Whatever you do, don't move in here, unless you are planning to never move out! And only move here if you like poor maintenance work too! The staff is friendly, but they manipulate as much money out of you as they possibly can hiding behind the guise of real estate law.

I moved here May 2009 and loving it. After viewing over 14 apartment complex, CG was by far my first choice. I have lived in 4 other luxurious and no so luxurious communities. So, trust me I know about bratty staff and feeling lied to just to sign a contract. Normally, I don't write reviews but, I felt like checking out what people had to say about where I live and I felt it was only fair for me to write about my experiences at CG. First, I came on a Sunday, I drover around the complex as they do not have gates which I personally prefer no gates (since they can be a pain when they break , etc.) I found the construction and landscaping to be the most appealing, the buildings are not on top of each other so you don't feel like your neighbor across from you can see inside your apartment. The trees are so old that it gives a home feeling. The pool area is by far the nicest and largest pool in the area with a very comfortable BBQ area if you like to have a large group of friends for entertainment. The shaded area where the playground is located it's really spacious and far enough from where the cars drive by. The leasing office is beautiful!!! The young man who was there when I walked in without an appointment not only was very informative but, showed me four apartments. All four floor plans where really nice, I had a hard time making my mind up. When he told me that the cable was included, I was sold. One less bill to pay. Yay!!! Yes, you do not get all the extra channels but, I do get HBO and another cable channel. I used to think that my water bill was high but, after talking to other tenants mine is actually pretty decent even thought we wash clothes on a daily basics and cook daily. I live on the second floor on a 3/2 with Den, I keep my AC running on 68/70 constantly and my electric bill is a lot less than other smaller apartments I have lived in. I LOVE my apartment. The layout of the apartment it sure does make anyone feel at home living. I have vaulted ceilings, crown molding and my kitchen is just the perfect size even for someone like me that cooks daily. I did not have the need for a garage but, they are first come first serve so, if you need one, you need to sign up and be patience because they do come available. The leasing office staff is the BEST out of all the apartment complex I have lived in the Austin area. The leasing manager Cara is on top of things. I needed my battery replaced in my alarm and since my ceilings are so hight, she immediately arranged for the maintenance crew to come by and replace it. There isn't a time that I have walked in the office that she does not have a welcoming smile on her face and greets me with pleasure and professionalism. I have met a couple of wonderful girls at the office who got promoted into management positions but, the new girl Courtney is a great addition to the CG team. She is also very professional, sweet and helpful. From time to time I need to send a fax or receive a fax and before I ask for the favor she stretches her hand out and simply ask "are we faxing?". Honestly, I would not be writing any of it if I did not feel that it was fair. Colonial Grand at Canyon Creek is the BEST place to live because of the Manager, Leasing Agents, Maintenance Grew and most of all the apartments are truly the best for your money. You can go around and compare and you will see, I saved you time. If you rent here, you will meet me as everyone is very friendly at the pool.
Nick Ulrich. is. the. man! Period. Seriously though, Nick from Apartment Experts has been nothing but a stalwart professional since our first encounter a little over a month ago. I will be going to UT for grad school in the fall, and I wanted to beat the summer rush to find a decent place before they were all snapped up. I consider myself to be a fairly easy going person, but I was getting frustrated by Austin Craigslist ads. On a stroke of luck, one Friday night I struck up an email exchange with Nick via an Apartment Experts Craigslist posting. Nick, sensing my frustration, offered to have a phone conversation with me the very next day. While his demeanor is laid back, it was clear to me that he knows the landscape of rentals in Austin like the back of his hand. He quickly and adeptly made himself aware of my situation (why I was moving to Austin, how much I was hoping to spend, what kind of apartment I was looking for - I was looking for an apartment I could afford on a grad student budget, preferably with hard wood floors and on-site laundry, that was a shuttle ride from campus. He then sent me a follow-up email within 24 hours of our first conversation with three options of apartments he thought we be a good fit for me - for those of you not keeping track, it was a Sunday! Nick helped me to find a great apartment complex which I agreed had apartments with all of the things I asked for, in a great neighborhood. He then went out of his way to keep in touch with the apartment management to make sure I got the number 1 spot on the Wait List - which landed me the only efficiency up for grabs from the complex in August. He seemed to have a great working relationship with the apartment complex. Now, with the stress of finding a place off my shoulders, I can relax and enjoy my last summer of freedom. I recommend that anyone who is moving to Austin give Nick Ulrich a call. I'm really excited for my upcoming move, and you better bet I'm buying Nick a beer :-)
Thank You Nick! If you’re looking for an apartment in Austin, choose “Apartment Experts” and ask for NICK ULRICH. He has helped me find 2 apartments over the years and has always been professional. The first time I called Apartment Experts and spoke with him I was already stressed beyond belief about relocating and finding a place in time. With his distinct, easy-going Texas accent he said, “Well, don’t you worry about a thing! We are going to find you a place. You just list off what you’re looking for and I’ll get to work!” I knew I had the right guy for the job. The first agent I contacted there (and you know who you are-agent with no commission!) told me I was conducting my search too early in the year and seemed to respond to my requests at a snail’s pace. Nick listened to what I wanted, started working immediately and my “too-early” search was over within a week. (No joke) Each time, he exhibited patience and understanding when it came to the very specific needs I wanted in an apartment. My boyfriend and I thought we had a very specific idea of where we wanted to live in Austin. Nick showed us what we were asking for and then showed us 2 apartments we hadn’t even thought of. We actually went with the one we hadn’t thought of! Nick was more than generous with his time and was able to meet us at various locations around the city. Needless to say, I can fully recommend Nick Ulrich. When you call him, be prepared for a friendly voice, thorough questions (bring your wish list) and quick results. When you meet him, be prepared for a big Texas grin, laid-back style and the laugh lines to prove it. Overall, a 10/10 experience.
ive posted on a few side,i know people use different ones,so the apartments are very nice inside, mid grade stainless steel, laminate wood flooring and a good layout,i have a large balcony, theres washer dryer,a nice gym and a lot parking, theres also parties at the leasing office and the food is good, the people are...well idk,im guessing its more family or people who are done with college and well into their careers..or trust fund babies lol, theres a few things that annoy me with living here.one is what your paying for,the smallest one bedroom is over 650 sq.ft and is $870 but...factor this, they make you pay $25 valet trash (she didnt tell me about until i already signed the lease) and they only come sun-thurs not on the days which you actually need them fri/sat,and they are so strict with the rules,like...its just trash, and they will leave it here!then the water bill is typically $45 on top of that monthly (1 bedroom) and the water doesnt even get hot...so your paying $950 to stay here pretty much in the middle of kind of nowhere,i was in a hurry when i leased here and its a lease up so of course they were a little pushy when getting people in here, but needless to say i wont be renewing my lease, there are way better deals Read more: http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/TX-Austin-Indigo-111261611.html#ixzz2sUuhVlvw
It was an absolute pleasure to work with Nick Ulrich. He is extremely helpful and his wealth of knowledge and down to earth nature makes working with him so worthwhile. It has been a long journey for me to finally realize my dream of making a life in Austin (about 5 years in the making) and it has also been a long journey to finally have and find my own home again. Nick made the process wonderfully effortless and he was exceptionally accommodating and understanding. He helped me with my credit report and took the time to get to know me and what I was looking for in a new home. He made me feel very comfortable and putting down a deposit on my new home brought me a sense of relief and freedom that I haven’t felt for quite some time. I am so grateful to Nick for helping me step into my new life, my new home and for helping me gain a new lease on life that means more to me than I could ever express in words. I would recommend Nick Ulrich to all of my friends, family, coworkers and acquaintances, all the while shouting from the rooftops, “Nick is wonderful, and he will do everything he can to help you find the home you have been searching for.” Thank you again for all that you have done for me, it is so greatly appreciated. -With Greatest Sincerity and Gratitude, Niechele Marie Gambill
If I were to describe Habitat Hunters owner, Jody Lockshin, in one word it would be "dedicated." Jody is by far the most dedicated person I know, let alone Realtor. Jody's dedication is by far miles and miles above the rest. She is dedicated to her clients. She always makes sure she is looking out for their best interest and well-being first. Whether she is working with seasoned investors or first time buyers the treatment is the same. She literally works what seems to be 24/7. I often wonder when she finds time to sleep. Jody does it all. Buying, selling, leasing, commercial property, tax value disputes with the county, expert witness testimony, all while running one of the most successful and tenured companies in Austin. As her client, you would never know this. You will think you are her only client, which is the way it should be. In a time where most Realtors are just "door openers" looking for a quick commission, you need to make sure you have your interests protected. Jody is one of the few people in the industry that you can trust to do so. I send her as many referrals as possible. She is the best! Thank you Jody for all you do!
I have a hard time believing any of the yelled at anybody even if they where being a jerk. They have always treated me with kindness and smiles. Yes Penny is out sometimes. Don't think it's a parttime job I think volunteer is more accurate. She takes care of rabbits that other selfish people have grown tierd of them and thru them out with the trash. So I say God Bless Her ! There is always someone to perfectly capable of helping you, and I might ad they're quite the lookers too. I have to admit I've said the same thing about a maintenance man always having excuses, then I thought about it, and he was always smiling I think it's just his way of joking and messing with my head, and he gets the job done. Can't be first in line all the time. I mean really in this day and time extra people sitting on the edge of couch waiting to serve you. I'll even put my name on this to show my sincerity, and maybe get a kiss on the cheek. Hint hint Penney, Linda & Jade. And no I'm not kissing b...No reason to. They really are a great bunch of people. I've lived in a lot of Apts. this is one of the best. Great land scapeing too. Kirk D
04/14/13: I am still a current tenant, but now feel that the management does not treat long term tenants fairly. My rent has increased $186 since I wrote this review. Always thought you reward good tenants, not penalized them with INCREASES every time they sign a NEW lease. You also built a fence around the property which I'm grateful for, but you still have not made it PEDESTRIAN FRIENDLY! There's only one in and out of the property, don't you think this could be dangerous in case of fire or other emergency? Sorry, but I must downgrade you 2 stars, since 2010 review. 2010: I am current tenant who can honestly say since the current owners took over the condition of complex improved 1000%. There has been considerable upgrade to the building & landscape. They respond to tenants' repair requests VERY quickly. If you're looking for nice clean newly renovated apartment & reasonable rent this is the place!
I just have to give extreme kudos to the realtor, Tyson Davis at Habitat Hunters! I recently teamed up with him in search of the 'perfect' house, not only for me, but for my partner who was at the time still living in the U.K. And on top of that, we didn't exactly have the easiest list of criteria for someone to go by. To make a long story short, this guy bent over backwards for me. He took the pressure off of having to look for two people, gave me endless options to view, would answer any question or concern I had, regardless if at early morning or late night (I was a total repeat offender) and really just had a infectious and cheery disposition. So house or apartment hunters out there.....look no further, if you want someone who genuinely cares about getting you exactly want you want and makes the ride an enjoyable experience rather than one that makes your hair fall out........then this is your guy!!
Nick Ulrich is extremely helpful! I am moving from out of state & had a lot of anxiety about finding & renting an apartment essentially “site unseen”. Fortunately, Nick was the first person I called & he immediately did what he could to help me feel at ease. Nick took the time to get to know me on a more personal level, which made it easier for him to find the perfect location for me. I wasn't sure what I wanted at first, & Nick had the patience to help me figure out what would work best to fit my needs. He did several searches for me until we found a place that I liked. When it came time to apply, Nick brought all the necessary details to my attention to help insure my application approval. As a result, I was approved for the first place I applied for. I absolutely could not have done this without his help. Highly recommended! Thank You Nick!!
