I inherited two 1967 Plymouth GTX’s from my Brother-In-Law and brought them home to Texas from his place in Georgia recently. FYI, the Plymouth GTX was introduced into the Plymouth line in 1967 and this model did not share the styling or design with other MoPar models. Furthermore the body style changed completely in 1968 and thereafter. Why the long winded intro? ….Because none of the aftermarket classic car parts manufacturers produce reproduction parts for the 1967 Plymouth GTX and additionally only 12,010 units were built that year which is very low. This makes used parts scarce. I’m restoring both of these cars and needed the services of a good chrome plating company. I took the beat up front and rear bumpers from one of the cars to see how they would turn out being re-chromed. The owner David explained that he would send the bumpers to their San Antonio facility where they had patterns of all the bumpers made when the cars rolled off the assembly line and that their craftsmen would bring my bumpers back to match those specifications. Just thinking about that is really something. When I returned about four weeks later to get them I unwrapped one and was completely blown away. Nice work? No, spectacular work! The quality of the chrome plating was better than any I have ever seen. The bumper was repaired to perfection and the cost was much less than buying an aftermarket bumper which in this case is unavailable. I asked if he could refinish some of the pot metal, stainless steel and aluminum trim and he told me to bring them to him. I picked up a bunch of trim and molding from him today and was once again impressed beyond words. This company does outstanding work, at reasonable prices and the turnaround time is great. The only problem I have now is that all the other work on the cars has to be done to somehow match the workmanship standard set by Cen-Tex Plating Co Inc., no easy feat!
My wife and I were passing through the Austin area a few weeks ago and our alternator for our 1994 Motor Home went out. We were directed to Hackney Auto Truck and Fleet for the repair. We were treated with the upmost of professional care. I was presented with a WRITTEN estimate within an hour and was explained in detail that the alternator was not available in Austin but they were able to find a rebuilt on in Temple TX and could have it by 4:30 PM. Even though our motor home was nose into the shop all day we were able to use it as a place of rest till they were through with the repairs. Also because we were just passing through the Austin area the manager of the shop insured us the even if the part was late coming in from Temple they would stay past their closing toime of 6:00PM so we could get back on the road that day. I receieved a phone call from their office just yesterday asking me if everything was going alright and if I had any problems with the Motor Home since leaving their business. How refresing, how professional, how wonderful to find service like this. Thank You Hackney Auto and staff, God Bless, Tom & Sheila Shidler
We have now purchased two new Tacoma trucks from Nassir Ahmed and his manager David Valdez. First one was August 1, 2015 and it was a beauty but unfortunately was totaled in an accident a few months back. The first deal was simply great. No nonsense, just a straight deal and everything you could ask for. So we went back for the 2nd one and picked it up yesterday. Another great transaction and would like to recommend AutoNation to anyone looking for a new Toyota. They ordered both trucks for us and we were able to get exactly what we wanted. No games, no padding the invoice with a bunch of make believe dealer add ons such as nitrogen, tinting, undercoating, etc. After attempting to deal with the San Antonio dealers this organization is a breath of fresh air. Even the F&I guys were great to deal with. No pressure from them to buy their add ons. They explained them and went on from there. Went home happy campers.
