In response to the review left by “KBAU04”: As the owner of The Works Salon and Spa, my goal is to keep customers happy so that they will keep coming back to my salon. Never would I, or any of my employees, turn down a paying customer that has come to seek our services. Ms. Kallan Bowman failed to mention in her ugly review that when she entered The Works Salon and Spa on December 3rd, 2010, her gift certificate was tattered, torn, and taped up and had been granted 2 1/2 years prior, on May 7th, 2008. Her excuse was that her dog had chewed it up. Our gift certificates have expiration dates on them in the top right corner of the paper, but since her dog chewed off the whole top corner, there was no visible way to see it. It seemed that Ms. Bowman came in looking for a fight to get free services. I politely informed her that we could not honor her certificate because it was expired, and that they expire one year after being purchased. This is when the young woman began to throw a down-right temper tantrum, causing a scene in front of customers who were trying to relax. She said that she could take the gift certificate down to Wal-Mart and they would honor it. I responded by telling her that I was a local business owner, not a billion dollar corporation. She was being loud, rude, and very demanding. After we informed her that her gift card had expired, she wouldn’t leave. She threatened to ruin the salon’s name and mine as well. The employee at The Works did not take Ms. Bowman’s side and did not take money out of her own pocket to make up the difference. The employee was paid in full the service that she rendered to this rude customer. Ms. Bowman received a deluxe manicure and deluxe pedicure, which she should not have received with her expired gift certificate. We strive for a calm, relaxing atmosphere in my salon and spa, but on this day Ms. Bowman disturbed the entire salon and the services of other clients for nearly 30 minutes, as she refused to leave. She sounded like a child throwing a fit in a candy store because she wasn’t getting her way. The cause of this dispute would not have even existed if Ms. Bowman had brought in a whole gift certificate in my salon a year and a half ago, while it was still good. I stand by my actions, but I do regret giving Ms. Kallan Bowman a deluxe manicure and pedicure to make her happy, as you just can’t satisfy some people.
I read the two reviews below and I absolutely disagree. Mary's salon is top notch professional. She did a great job with my hair and my daughter's hair. I highly recommend her to anyone. I went in there knowing exactly what I wanted. I explained the style to her and she matched it perfectly. I love my hair cut! The entire salon is beautiful and everyone was professional. They even had cookies and coffee!!! Thanks Mary for such a great experience!
The best salon in the Auburn, AL area by far! I love going in and getting any services. The staff is always so friendly and you can definitely tell they get along very well. They laugh a lot and seem to love their jobs. I highly recommend color, highlights, waxes, facials, or the body scrubs. I feel like a million bucks every time I leave!
