Having to travel all over the country I enjoy trying different Italian restaurants in every city I go to. For over 20 years I've been going in and out of DC and don't have any idea how I could have missed this little gem of a restaurant. In the front window they have these two older ladies making gnocchi by hand. Inside the lobby you find the desserts calling to you. The manager said that they make all their own desserts in-house. I had the seafood pasta dish which should not be called anything but the best dish of pasta I ever had. The portions are like nothing you will ever see anywhere. The sad thing is that even though the dish was huge, I ate every bit of it! The cheesecake was the most creamy delicious cheesecake I have ever had. Our waiter was always attentive to our table and the service was perfect. I cannot say enough other than it is truly the best Italian Restaurant I have ever been to and will surely make it a regular visit every time I am in DC. Be sure to save some room for dessert and watch for the surprise at the end when they bring you complimentry Sambucca and Amaretto to your table. Unbelievable!

I've been a customer of Piccolo's since their beginning, and I absolutely love it! Their staff always treat me like family--everyone makes a point to say hello, no matter how busy they are. All their food is prepared well, but my favorites are the fried calamari, spiced shrimp appetizer, garlic bread, eggplant, caramelized onion and goat cheese appetizer, Caesar salad, linguine with white clam sauce, veal chop, steak, fettuccine alfredo, and for dessert their tiramisu (they make it themselves). they also have great specials which vary week to week. Also, their soups are homemade and all the ones I have had are delicious--just like my mom used to make! I bring friends there all the time, and am constantly telling people about it. Everyone that I have sent there have come back raving about the delicious food and romantic ambience. I have also held many dinner parties there, and have always had a great time--their prices are very reasonable, and they even personalized the menu for my daughter's graduation dinner! The staff take great care of me and my guests. I highly recommend this restaurant!!!
Paper Moon definitely did not disappointed me. Prices were reasonable, wine was very good, server was knowledgeable, discreet, helpful and polite, and the food was absolutely wonderful. Having been to Italy twice and looking forward to a third time we're always skeptical when a restaurant advertises as authentic Italian but it was apparent from the beginning the Chef takes his Italian food very seriously. I had the $8 calamari for an appetizer which was heaped up on a plate and mixed in with fresh peeled tomatoes, olives, and I believe red pepper, a presentation I had not had before (it usually comes with some sort of icky sticky sauce) and it was wonderful, perfectly tender yet light and fresh tasting. wife had the salmon carpaccio which was recommended by the manager which too was excellent. For dinner I had the lobster ravioli which was al dente as pasta should be, rich yet not heavy. But the wife hit the jackpot with the Osso bucco . It was just flat out delicious.
