Can I give them 6 stars??

    Provided by

My fiancee and I had been wanting to try Woodfire for some time, and made reservations for a Saturday night. As with the other customers, I was contacted to ensure that we had no dietary restrictions or allergies. We were greeted at the door and escorted to our seats and greeted by our excellent server, Geoffrey.\r \r I personally enjoy the ambiance of the restuarant. I think it's clean and contemporary with a cottage feel. Before this dining experience I had only sat at their bar before. I like that the bar and restaurant feel like two different settings. The music was not too loud, the lighting was great for date night, and it always helps to have a roaring fire on going in the oven which is visible from the dining room. \r \r Service was exceptional. These are not your average servers, these people understand the food and where it comes from. Can't ask for better than that. We ended up doing the a-la-carte menu rather than the chef-tasing, which worked well for us. We love to taste each others meals, but enjoy our own. My fiancee, being a pork enthusiast like Top Chef Kevin Gillespie, was thrilled Kevin was working the grill Saturday night, and was sure to order the Pork Belly and the Pork Tenderloing, both were divine. I ordered the Halibut, and I can say it is one of the best pieces of fish I have ever had. This is coming from not only a Miami Beach native, but someone who has also fished and dined of the coast of Alaska (Homer, Halibut capital of the world!) many times. This halibut was perfectly cooked and flavored, and not to mention a VERY large piece of fish.\r \r The restaurant has an excellent beverage selection as well. I love the ""bartender's choice"" idea, and he was spot on with my fiancee's choice of a ""brown"" cocktail. I had intended on ordering wine with my fish, but after having the ""Farmer's Daughter"" as my initial cocktail, I decided it was too good not to have another one!\r \r The restuarant was aware of our Birthday & Anniversary celebration, and they brought us personalized menus, signed by the Top Chef himself. We both left completely stuffed and totally impressed. This will for sure be one of our date-night spots for a long time....

    Perfection!

    Provided by

We experienced the utmost level of service, care and an amazing dining experience this past Saturday, 9/17. The ambience was very warm and inviting. We were seated in a quaint banquette layered with cozy pillows. Kristen greeted us and we immediately adored her! She was very friendly, knowledgeable and obviously takes great pride what she does. We were called the previous day to confirm our reservation, ask about any allergies, special requests or special occasions. The hostess took note that we were traveling from Nashville as Kristen greeted us and thanked us for visiting them while in Atlanta. Very personal experience. The food presentation was stunning from the amuse-bouche to the main courses. Not only were they incredibly pleasing to the eye but to the palate as well. Highlights for me were definitely the garlic butter served with the assortment of breads, the arugula salad with golden beets and watermelon radish, the peach and ginger amuse-bouche and my perfectly cooked wood-grilled duck breast. Our experience was PERFECTION in every way possible! Thank you Woodfire Grill staff and Kevin Gillespie for a memorable evening. \r

    Great food outstanding service

    Provided by

We were able to get reservations same day using Open Table. This was our second visit and it was as good as we remember. We had the 5 course tasting and JR was our server and went out of his way to make sure our dietary needs were considered in each dish. Each course was carefully prepared and combination of items on the plate were thought through. I did like some more than others but the overall meal and service was over the top. Even the drink specials were unique. Each and every member of the staff thanked us and wanted to make sure we had an enjoyable evening. Great place for a special occasion or for the every day foodie.

    Overpriced/ small portions

    Provided by

So disappointed, I understand that most restaurants portions are out of control big, but this was the complete opposite. The portions were so tiny and sadly the flavors I expected to be orgasmic were borgasmic. I was so excited about going and ultimately disappointed, our entire party ended up at Fat Mats for dinner after our 400.00 appetizers at Woodfire. This will not be added to my favorite restaurants which include Bacchanalia, Rathbun's and Flip.

    Great local restaurant

    Provided by

Wow. I watched Kevin on Top Chef and waited a month for this reservation... and I wasn't disappointed! We ordered the five-course tasting menu - there wasn't a single thing I would have changed or enhanced. It was simply fantastic. Even our waiter, Greg, was excellent. A memorable meal at a memorable restaurant. I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant!

    THE best!

'Discovered' Woodfire about 9 months ago and we just keep going back. Exceptional service but what really makes it stand out is the incredible food. The flavors mix beautifully. We have always had an A+ dining experience.

    Huge Prices, Tiny Portions

    Provided by

I don't mind small portions if the prices are reasonable but this place is ridiculous. $14 for ONE medium sized, average quality scallop!!! Are you kidding me? And $6 for a small bowl of ""sunchokes"" (a fancy name for what best I could tell were potatoes). My friend and I spent $60 each and left hungry. No wonder the place was empty on a Friday night!

    My New Secret Spot

    Provided by

I've been dining in Atlanta for many years. I've heard the same names tossed around when looking for a new place to dine but I had never heard of this one before. My date and I walked in and I was amazed at how impressive the space is. We sat down at the beautiful copper topped bar and we ordered two of their custom sidecar martinis made with all fresh squeezed organic juices. \r \r I'm not a big wine buff or food snob so I usually like to be coached along by the servers at a restaurant. Our server was wonderful in this aspect as he had no qualms highlighting his favorites and then suggesting wine pairings with detailed explanations of how the flavors would interact. \r \r It has only been a week since we dined, but I'm looking forward to going back when my parents come into town next week.

    Fresh and Fun!

    Provided by

I went to Woodfire Grill while I was visiting from out of town and was thoroughly impressed. We were meeting people for dinner so we stopped at the bar for a drink. The bartender had several very good wines to chose from, as well as some fun mixed drinks. The service the entire night was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, which I understand is seasonal, so they serve only the freshest food. The portions were just right and the quality of the food was amazing. I will definitely come back again and again.

Great food, great atmosphere, great service!

    Provided by

I?ve been to Woodfire several times since the new owners took over and have enjoyed it every time. The creative, seasonal cuisine is always perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. And the attentive and knowledgeable staff offer impeccable service. I?ve eaten the tasting menu several times and highly recommend it ? it?s fun to be surprised with each course. And Nick, the owner, is always eager to offer some great wine pairing recommendations. Some of my favorites dishes include the sweet cream of corn soup, the Georgia fried catfish stuffed with shrimp, and as a side dish, the polenta (best in the city). Also, for desert, try the award-winning sweet potato panna cotta, which is absolutely delicious or their new chocolate cake with banana cream and chocolate peanut butter ice cream - just sinfully good!

    Great dining experience

    Provided by

The food is perfectly prepared, fresh and delicious and the menu changes every time we go so there is always something new to try. The chocolate cake and the sweet potato panna cotta desserts are to die for!!If you don't know which wine would be best with your dinner, just ask Nick and he'll select just the right one. We have always had great service every time we've gone, and we'll continue to go back for great dining experiences.

    A Perfect Evening

    Provided by

Woodfire Grill is the BEST place to spend a wonderful evening, whether with a group of friends or just yourself and a special someone. I recently dined there not long after the new owners came on board and my experience was amazing. I liked how the facility itself, tho very nice, did not distract you from the unbelievable food. We met the chef and were surprised at how one so young could have such a brilliant ability to prepare outstanding farm to table fare. We elected to include the wine parings with a five course chef's choice which I strongly encourage...not only were the wines excellent but the origin, etc of them as explained by Nicholas Quinones was fascinating!\r \r None of the places I've eaten before were enough to inspire me to do a review...just go....you will not be dissapointed! By the time you are leaving, you will be trying to figure out how soon you can return!\r

    NEW OWNERS, NEW CHEF=EXCELLENT Experience

    Provided by

I took my Mother and Wife to Woodfire Grill a few weeks back to give them a try...I was familiar that they were under new management and I had concerns that the food or mood would be different.\r \r I am such a fan of pre-fixed course meals...we all had the 5 course executive chef prepared meal paired with 5 wines. We were very impressed with the selections that the chef came up with. On one of the courses he came over explained his vision on the course. He was very personable and YOUNG. I think Woodfire has a lot going for them. Again the food was prepared perfectly...and I believe the Farm to Table concept will work out well as there are many different options for Woodfire as GA has 4 uniquely different seasons food offerings. \r \r Finally, the wine the wine. What can I say...the new owner Nick impressed us over and over again with his pairings and overall knowledge of the wine. I felt like we were in the wine region itself enjoying each glass of wine looking over the vineyard on a veranda.\r \r Overall we had a wonderful experience and I look forward to going back often, just not for special occasions!

    Most Unique Menu

    Provided by

Woodfire Grill has a very unique menu and the selections we tried were very good. The wine selection is varied and the ones we selected were excellent. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I like the fact that they use local products for their menu. The atmosphere is conducive to a great night out in Atlanta. We were visiting from out of state in September 2008 and Woodfire Grill was recommended to us by friends who live in the Atlanta area - it certainly lived up to their recommendation and we will most certainly go back next time we're in Atlanta.

My wife and i had dinner at Woodfire Grill the other night. I hadn't been in since the original owners had left, but had a fantastic meal. The mood was much more relaxed and fun than it was even a few months ago! The food was amazing, the wine was great, i really enjoyed everybody's service. I really had a great time and would recommend it to friends!

Wonderful Experience Under the New Owners!

    Provided by

It had been years since my first visit and I'm glad I returned when I did. From the lovely aroma of the wood fire grill from the main dining room, to the sincere ""thank you"" and ""good bye"" at our departure from both owners, Woodfire Grill was delicious. I've been twice in the last month with different guests and everyone enjoyed the experience. The five course ""tasting"" menu was very complete having samplings from various local offerings, each contributing great combinations in flavor. Also, the culotte steak was perfectly prepared, and Nick Quinones made a terrific wine pairing recommendation that was a home run. Each time we went was for the dining experience of unique locally acquired foods, a proven talented chef, and personalized service. We were not disappointed. I would also recommend their ""bar menu"" which had outstanding meats and cheeses available. The signature cocktails were very satisfying, and the staff was very knowledgeable regarding the entire menu. Woodfire Grill would be ideal for a business dinner, a family celebration or a romantic evening. You won't be disappointed either!
