    Brewery

    Provided by

This place is loads of fun. A couple of coworkers and I usually go here on Fridays after leaving the office and have a couple of beers. Its just like a giant hangout spot where you get to meet different people every week and just hang out out. The best part is you get to take the glass home every time you go, and you can take tours also.

Better than just beer drinking, great event space.

Hard to look at a brewery (especially one that does a buy-a-glass-get-tons-of-refills on a weekly basis) in a bad light. It's a place where the make BEER for crying out loud. What I've found recently, is that SweetWater also makes for a killer event space. There's a beautiful patio with -- you guessed it! another bar! -- which makes it easy to escape without losing out on alcohol consumption. (Even when the events sell out.) Another major bonus that is constantly overlooked, is the humor that's found in the yuppie-to-hippie attendee ratio. Our psychedelic friends still claim this as their own, but so do the popped collar crowd. When W supporters and former rave-throwers combine: SweetWater Brewing Events!

    Are people really complaining?

First, I don't find this to be a college hangout, as one reviewer suggested, at all. You want to see a college hangout, check out the ABC tours where it's all Tech students. Sweetwater is much more oriented to the young professional crowd. The beer is great. Their IPA is one of the best beers in the country, if you ask me. You get more than your money's worth considering the amount of beer you get and the fact that you get to keep your pint glass. They do offer tours for those who are interested, but most people just come to drink and socialize. If you live in Atlanta and have yet to check it out, make it a point to stop by. It is well worth it.

    Try The Tasting

Everyone in Atlanta should go to a tasting at the Sweetwater Brewery. For $8 Dollars you get six great 5oz beers to try and you get to keep the glass. Cheers.

College hang out! Too many people!

This is a brewery! There is supposed to be an informative brew tour. There was not a great brew tour. Once you see Sweetwater's operation, it turns you completely off. The event started off as waiting in line for a half an hour where they told the patrons that the pint prices would increase! Thanks a lot! None the less, my brother and I waited in line and noticed that there were only college age kids there. The thing about college kids is they are used to drinking horrible beer, so any beer that is somewhat decent tastes like the best beer in the world to these people. The slogan ""free beer"" is a misnomer due to the fact that they charge you for the pint glass and they give you a certain amount of beer tokens. With the tokens you buy a sample of beer that fills up half of your pint glass. Also, the guys that pour your beer want a tip. Forget you, I am not tipping you for pouring me half a beer! The brew tour is an even bigger joke. The tour guide rubbed her face in a daze of inebriation. Thanks for the tour lady! For the 300+ people that were there 20 people went on 2 tours. That is saying about 13% of those that visited the friggin brewery didn't even bother to see how the beer was made, it was mainly a college hang out for these kids. There was also a jam band playing, and I had the revelation of the days when I was drinking nasty beer , smoking cheeba, and listening to Phish. I must have been an annoying loser during that time, just like most of the people that were at this place. If anyone knew what great beer was at this place they wouldn't be ""floating the mainstream."" Sweetwater is awful and receives too many accolades for being mediocre. The crowd that the brewery attracts is awful. These people do not appreciate the process or the art of brewing, they are just coming here to be seen. It is annoying when you actually care about something, but people just mess it up. There are too many awesome American microbreweries to try to waste your time on this place.
