When I was heading up to NY for orientation for school, Delta made us wait on the tarmac at the Atlanta airport for a half hour before taxiing back to the gate. At this time it was about 6:30pm. They made everyone get off the plane and head back in to the airport. My dad and I went to get something to eat. When we returned to the gate, we found out our flight was cancelled due to what Delta said was inclement weather in the northeast. Delta doesn't give two hoots about their customers. We tried to get on another flight to LaGuardia airport, but they all were booked. So, we booked a flight to Newark airport, keeping in mind our rental car was still at LaGuardia. But, nevertheless, we got on the flight. My dad was on hold for about 20 minutes trying to get our rental car moved from LaGuardia to Newark, but was unable to do so. I was told to go and try to get on a standby list for any other flights to LaGuardia. I was told by the Delta agent that they are not putting anymore people on standby because ""there are too many people on standby"". I also asked her if Delta could shuttle from Newark to LaGuardia because that is the least they could do. All the lady said to me was ""No, sorry"". No reason, no nothing. The Newark flight was supposed to leave at 10:20pm, but ended up leaving at 12:05 due to the fact that the flight attendants got in late. Delta was unable and unwilling to grab another crew and put them on the flight. When we finally got to Newark airport, we had to hail a cab for an hour's drive to LaGuardia to pick up our car. We picked up the car from the car rental center at LaGuardia airport and headed to the hotel. We didn't get to the hotel until 4am in the morning only to wake up for orientation at 7am. Then, on the way home from NY, Delta cancelled the 8pm flight due to lack of passengers and delayed our 9pm flight till 9:20pm. On the way on to the plane, we were stopped and had to have our baggage checked because Delta said there was not enough room on the flight for everyone's bags. My father was furious. When we finally got on to the plane, we found out that there was plenty of room for our bags. My father was again very furious. Thanks a lot Delta for putting us through hell and back. You just lost a customer! Happy now?!

On 1/22/11 we were having our newest family member, a kitten we named Snickers shipped to us from Utah. We paid for her to be in a climate controlled cargo & even paid an extra $70 for an expedited service called Delta Dash which should have meant she was the first thing off or on the plane. When we got to the airport, we waited, her flight came in at 8:40, they didn't bring her out to us until 9:30. (50 minutes after the plane landed) She was cold, pale, limp & unresponsive & had blood coming from her nose & mouth. My family rushed her to the emergency vet, but on the drive, she passed. The vet pronounced her DOA, she died from extreme hypothermia, she froze to death. Apparently, what we thought was a warm cargo bin, wasn't. When a plane lands, climate control is lost & she didn't stand a chance for 50 minutes in their cargo hold. If for any reason there is a holdup on the tarmac, our animals are trapped, unable to escape the extreme cold or extreme heat in the summer. Our family is devastated & Delta's response has been disgusting. They valued her life at 50 cents per pound. They valued LIFE at 50 cents per pound.
