DELTA Misinformed ME and Rejected after Baggage Damaged! 24 hour BS! - baggage damage

... read more on July 9. So I did and was advised this time that I would have to report it to the originating airport (Providence). When I went to the baggage counter, the Delta rep told me that I had waited more than 24 hours and that he could not receive a claim for repair of my suitcase. I asked for his supervisor and the next supervisor and all he could say was that he was the final decider and that my claim was rejected finally. So I reported it to Orbitz who gave a $50 off on a combination air/car rental that I found for over $400 less on my own- so that was an insult too. Don't take those stupid offers as they give you nothing but a bigger bill by using their coupon.

However, the next day I bought my next round trip tickets and did pay $3 more for the trip by using Northwest instead of Delta. So they will keep my seat empty for me and unsold until they fix my bag which probably would not cost $20-$25 at a shoe repair shop to fix. I will use this same suitcase now with a big sign on the duct tape holding the bag together that says "Damaged by Delta with no Repair" - fly a decent airline that takes care of their damage. It is just the principle of the situation - the amount to repair is not that much but they have p--sed me off enough to lose my family as customers. I guess there is something in the small print on the many pages that I should remember to report damage within 24 hours and not to trust their representatives who give wrong information. There is too much competition for Delta to stay afloat when they act this way.
