I was already almost a senior citizen when I decided in 2005 to try to overcome a lifelong fear of public speaking. Never too late and all that stuff, right? (Surveys show that the biggest fear of most people is public speaking, and second is...death.) The Professional Actors Studio in Buckhead had a great reputation and so I audited a class for free, liked it and joined. I thereafter studied for lengthy periods with every teacher in the school. Most are sought after local actors with decades of experience in theatre, film, TV, and Commercials. Some of them, as well as many of their students, have gone on to acting careers in LA and NY. Other students became solid acting instructors in their own right. The owner himself, Nick Conti, is a veteran of over two decades of teaching acting, beginning in Los Angeles in the 1990s. Before that, he was a regular on a daytime soap, has done many supporting roles in movies and TV, and voice overs. I now have six, soon to be seven, credits on the Internet Movie DataBase (IMDB), and have been auditioning regularly for films, TV series, commercials and other entertainment media. Not bad for an old guy who just wanted to stop quivering in front of an audience. Got my Oscar speech ready, too.
This school has given me the opportunity to navigate my way into the acting field starting out with no experience. As a mature adult I had questions whether I could be successful in this field and quickly realized I could. The classes, instructors and curriculum are designed to give actors exactly what they need at every level of experience. In my case I have seen tremendous growth over the past year and have been booking a high percentage of auditions. The class format embodies the Stanislofsky Method and builds confidence and skills. The instructors are invested in my success and are very supportive yet honest in what is needed to continue my growth. I have and highly recommend this school and their commitment to creating successful actors.
As an actress who is represented and competing in the Atlanta market i've been looking for that "thing" to give me the conpetitive edge I need to book the roles. The Professional Actor's Studio has given me that "thing" which amounts to quality training geared toward the on camera audition and scene work processes which has really allowed me to not only perform as a theatrical actress but also bridge the gap into the film acting world! I highly reccommend this studio for working film and television actors!
