Delicioso! Yes, Virginia, there is Cuban food in Georgia! First, make sure to have cash or your checkbook with you as Cali-N-Tito's does not accept credit or debit cards. Second, I hope you're hungry because the portions are HUGE. I had an amazing Cuban fried rice with chicken and fried plantains, most of which I had to take home and have for breakfast the next day. Really terrific. My son had a Cuban sandwich, which he devoured and my husband the fish tacos. The decor is really fun and very casual - sort of beach bum extraordinaire. It reminds me of a lot of Mexican joints down in Baja. It's also a very kid friendly place as they have a playground and boats sunk into the ground that kids can "steer" and play on. This is not a place to come when the weather's bad, so if you're jones for Cuban style food (not super authentic but tasty so you don't mind) get your order to go. I've heard you can BYOB, though there is a fee. And they have all kinds of crazy soda flavors, like pineapple as well as the usual Coke and Fanta products. Great prices, too. Can't wait for it to cool down a bit to go back!
I tried this place for the first time recently and was very impressed. I ordered the gator burger, a side of sweet potato fries, and a half salad. First, the half salad was as big or bigger than most places regular salads. On the flip side of that the burgers are small. So if you're not a salad fan then order a couple or couple more and a side. There were so many ways to customize my meal. I needed a little longer than my girlfriend to decide on how i wanted everything. I love that you can order something however you want or something that's already put together. The service was awesome. I never had to wait for my drink to be refilled, the server was attentive (wish i could remember his name so I could give him kudos for a job well done) and he was very knowledgeable about the different offerings available. My only complaint was the gator was a little bland. I was expecting a little more flavor but it wasn't bad. Can't wait to go back and try something different again.
I originally came here a week ago with my family do I could try the gluten pizza. However, they were out of the gluten free pizza dough. I was really really upset about it but it was too late to leave since my family's pizzas were already in the oven. Seeing my distress the manager wrote up a note giving me a free meal. Came in today to try The Hippie pizza (gluten free of course) and was not disappointed. The kids and I also enjoyed the "magic Coke machine" where you can use the touch screen to make custom cokes, root beers, lemonades, Sprites and more. You can also eat outside on the back deck. Your Pie food can be as healthy or decadent as you want, but it's always fun eating here!
