Dr. Jimmy Raley went to college and medical school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, completing a combined undergraduate/graduate degree in the Rural Medical Scholars Program. This is where he met his wife Susanna, also a physician. After medical school they moved to Augusta, GA to pursue Orthopedic and Obstetrics training respectively. While in training he and his wife were blessed with two children, Walt and Magnolia.
