Emmanuel Lutheran Church & School works for the spiritual development of community and members. Through its ministry, Helping Hands, the church provides meal assistance services. In addition, Emmanuel Lutheran Church & School operates a North Carolina-based service organization, Samaritan's Purse, which distributes gift-filled shoeboxes for children on Christmas. The church s ministries organize annual picnics and fun activities. It also administers the Sunday School Christmas Program. The church operates a nonprofit educational ministry, Emmanuel Lutheran School, which serves students in kindergarten through grade eight. Established in 1958, the school s curriculum includes Bible study, music, math, science, social studies, physical education and language arts.
