Founded in 1994, Barley's Taproom is a casual dining restaurant that occupies more than 8,000 square foot space. The restaurant specializes in sourdough pizzas, lasagnas and sandwiches. It offers a variety of menu items, such as nachos, garlic knots, and artichokes and ale. Barley's Taproom serves soups, desserts and sandwiches for lunch and dinner. The restaurant also provides salads with a variety of dressings, such as black olives, bell peppers, mushrooms, feta cheese and artichoke hearts. In addition, is five regulation dart lanes are available for private and tournament plays. Barley's Taproom s bar serves a selection of beer, including microbrew, amber, porter and draft.

The upstairs taproom is terrible. There is a separate menu and poor service. If you want water, you must serve yourself out of an orange cooler. You must order from the bartenders who are rude. You must also leave your ID with them in order to order food. Do not recommend.

Good pizza

We were in Asheville for a vacation but my friend who used to live in Asheville recommend this place. I was happy she did. The pizza was very good and the prices were reasonable. For those who love to try new beers, definitely check out the place. The only problem was the service. The waitress felt bad for us as we had a to wait a long time for the pizza, so she comped us the drinks. We will return to the restaurant if we ever go back to Asheville.

My favorite spot
When I lived in Asheville, barley's was a favorite place to get a great meal and sample local brews. I still stop at Barley's when I'm in town. It's just as great as I remember.

Best Pizza and Best Beer selection in Asheville

This place is consistently packed for dinner on the weekends. They serve up big slices of chewy crust pizza with a savory sauce, and really good/fresh toppings. They have all the basic toppings and more - like soy cheese, wheat crust, sundried tomatoes, and eggplant. My fave is mushroom/sundried tomato/italian sausage, no cheese and extra sauce. My boyfriend gets his half with the same but cheese and it's good! The spinach salad is yummy. The beer selection is AWESOME - tons of microbrews on tap from all over the country. This is a great, casual place to hang out with your crowd for the night. Upstairs there is just bar service - no food - but a great place to play pool and watch tv while waiting for your table. The only thing I'd skip are their appetizers - the garlic knots, various dips, etc. are really not very good.
