Simple. Effective. Real.
OUR MISSION: We strive to present new and innovative self defense programs to our local (Asheville) and regional (WNC) community. We will work to make sure that these programs are the most advanced, up to date training classes available in a format that is safe, educational, and most importantly, realistic. All of our martial arts and self defense programs will be based on feedback from the community and law enforcement in order to give you the information you need to be able to keep yourself and your loved ones safe.
OUR PHILOSOPHY: At Asheville Integrated Combatives, all of the self defense courses and martial arts courses that we teach are created according to the three dimensions and principles of our school philosophy.
Our teachings will be ETHICAL, encompassing the primary principle: no first use of force. We seek to end a conflict before it begins through de-escalation whenever possible. The first step of avoiding a conflict is tempering the ego in order to prevent being drawn into a violent confrontation.
Our teachings will be PRAGMATIC, encompassing the secondary principle: while negotiating for peace, prepare for war. While we seek to avoid conflict when possible, we realize that not every situation can be, or warrants, de-escalation. When the need arises, we will have the ability to strike fast and strike hard, ending the conflict as quickly as possible in accordance with the threat.
Our teachings will be DYNAMIC, encompassing the third principle: in the street there are no rules... train real. Attacks on the street do not happen in a controlled environment. Violence often comes unexpectedly and in situations that put us at a disadvantage. Our training will address the dynamics of real attacks instead of being limited to choreographed drills with cooperative partners.
