We live very near this restaurant, which is no longer Savoy, but is indeed called Vinnie's. Italian food. I can't say enough good things about this place. The last time we ate there, the service wasn't as good as usual, but it was still excellent! The pizza fell on the floor when put on that tray on the table, but the hostess or our server immediately took care of this mishap. In past visits, and with this last one, right when we walk in the door we feel welcomed, enthusiastically welcomed! The place is always busy and we can tell that the people eating here are mostly locals like us, which often means that Vinnie's is doing something right. The food is simply excellent too. Order anything and you'll love it. But honestly, it's the service that has kept us coming back. Just to let you know, I don't have any connections of any kind to this restaurant, but just want to see these good people continue to thrive. More restaurants should follow Vinnie's service practices.

This place is usually a freindly loud fun atmoshpere but depending on who you get when you call in or who serves you, service can range from great to poor! The salad, breadsticks, expecailly cheese breadsticks, which are a meal all alone and are awesome! We like the load feel since we have kids and so the noise all mixes in. The Italian food is very good as well. Fair prices and compared to the mellow mushroom, way better pizza at a way better price. We have brought freinds and relatives here many times and several have commented on it being one of the best places we took them too. It is not fine Italian dining. It is causual italian dishes of the regulars, nothing facy and wonderful pizza and breadsticks! We love this place and have lived all over the US and tried all kinds. Not the best but the best in Asheville and possibly in all of North Carolina!
Danilo Balsamo grew up in Sicily, is a good man, a terrific soccer player, and a tremendous Italian cook! I have been eating his food since they opened (five years plus) and he makes the best pizza in Asheville. Ken and the rest of the staff are very pleasant and everybody works hard. The parking and location are convenient. There is nothing not to love. They treat me and my daughters like family. Allen Lalor MD
