I have wanted a very special tattoo for a long time. I've interviewed numerous artists, including friends and others that knew of tattoo artists, and I've checked out specials online and on Facebook and in the New Times newspaper, etc. I wanted my design interpreted precisely and perfectly. After driving around Scottsdale and Phoenix, I came upon a couple of Tattoo Shops today and went inside and asked the right questions, etc. Luckily, I went to Slow N Low Tattoo on Southern and Central Avenue in Phoenix. The service was professional and friendly. The owner of the shop, a kind female, answered all of my questions and I met with the artist that I wanted to do my tattoo. First of all, I thought this tattoo on my chest would have been more painful that it was. I've had others before, but this was the least painful experience and the most professional and artisitic job I've had done. I designed, along with the artist, a heart with rainbow colors inside, a skull at the top (with bony hands holding onto the heart), and verbage that was stenciled perfectly on the right side of the heart. The blood looked great, but he said he'd add some white and make it a 3D design. When I came home my partner was THRILLED to see it. The colors are brilliant and just as I wanted. The design looks like a real heart and not a Valentine's Day heart like others might do. This artist knew exactly what he was doing and spent all the time he needed to get the right job done. They gave me a price ahead of time and stuck to it with no other charges. The only added charge was a special waxy lotion I wanted that has canola oil and Vitamin A in it. The tattoo also includes a FREE TOUCH UP whenever I want that done!!!! Having had other tattoos in my life, already I know that these bright and brilliant colors will last for a very long time. They are the most reasonable shop that I have found in town. Someone made comments about prison tattoos and these are NOTHING like that at all. That artist is long gone and this shop should be around for a very long time. :)
i was referred to MEG at LOVE & HATE tattoo by friends... after i researched her on line i was impressed with her clean crisp color tattoos...i found the shop to be a clean, friendly, and asthetically pleasing atmosphere... when i spoke with meg about my tattoo, she listened and offered ideas and in the end i ended up with a far better tattoo than i ever thought was possible... she was extemely professional, kind, curtious, accomidating and funny... as was the entire shop. it really felt like a family... you can tell everyne there loves what they do and where and who they work with.... they truly emphasized wanting the best tattoo to leave the shop, wether it was tradional or portrait,or done by this artist or that artist... all the astists and workers had no problem letting us know who would do the best version of the style of tattoo we wanted... the shop has a great "old-timey" feel to it, and is covered in original paintings and "flash" as well as an extensive library of books for ideas...and as i looked around, i noticed the awards throughout meg's room as well as the shop, and learned that every tattoo artist there is award winning.... bottom line.. i had a great experiance and an amazing tattoo and will be going back for more... i would reccomend anyone to this shop... i really felt comfortable there and with all the employees..... thanks again for the great tattoo meg!!! see u soon... mike d.
I recently got my first tattoo and after reading reviews and looking at portfolios I decided on Meg at Love and Hate Tattoo on McDowell rd in Phoenix. Her "tradional american" style and clean lines were exactly what i was looking for and after our consultation appointment I was excited to see what she would do with my ideas. Let me just say it was hands down a hundred times better than what I had originally thought it would be! Meg took my idea and amplified it into a beautiful work of art that I am proud to wear on my body for the rest of my life!! The shop is clean and has vintage "old school" vibe... Theres endless artwork and flash everywhere you look. The staff were great as well and made me feel welcomed, comfortable and at ease (being my first tattoo, I was a little nervous.. At first!! But quickly felt completely comfortable). Meg did an amazing job and I get compliments on my tattoo everywhere I go! I will definatly be going back for my next tattoo.Basically, my tattoo, artist, shop and the entire staff were really great and I recommend all my friends that want to get tattooed to go to Love and Hate! Thanks again Meg!
