Prior to and during veterinary school, Dr. Valentino worked as a veterinary assistant in small animal rehabilitation and general practice clinics in Philadelphia and North Carolina. She has also spent years volunteering at animal shelters, including a feline exclusive shelter in North Carolina where she developed passion for working with cats. She is particularly interested in feline pain control and chronic pain management.

After vet school, Dr. Barron witnessed how acupuncture could help a variety of medical concerns, ranging from arthritis, to pain management, to kidney disease. It also enhanced the quality of life for longer periods of time for many patients. With a dedication to helping pets in any way possible, she attended the Chi Institute in Florida for her acupuncture certification. Dr. Barron truly enjoys helping animals and feels the best possible care comes from integrating Eastern and Western medicines.

If you think that you’ve ever been to a vet clinic where your cat was treated like a queen (or king), then think again. Our four-year old Himalayan wanted to wonder around the moment we stepped in. She simply felt home. Even when we got in the examination room, she kept her joyful mood before, during, and after the examination. The fact that the clinic is exclusively for cats may have played a role, but the genuine care and friendliness of every single person we met is amazing. From the receptionist to the nurse to the doctor, we’ve never witnessed such care. Even when withdrawing blood for some tests, our cat wasn’t irritated. The lovely lady kept on pressing on her leg to make sure not to bruise that I wished I had such care the last time I had a blood work!

She also performs our grooming procedures including: Bathes, Brush-outs, Clown Cuts, and Lion Cuts. If you have questions about our grooming services, please call and ask to speak with Ellen. She can be found at the NOVA Cat Clinic Monday through Friday doing what she loves to do, working with cats.
