Okay, I must admit I have had a couple of decent appetizers but in visiting nearly half a dozen times in the last three years I can not seem to find any great entrees here nor can I find any positive reviews from anyone other than professional viewers. It isn't that the food is exceptionally terrible, but if I'm going to spend $40+ on a small portion fish dish, it had best be remarkable especially since there is great fried halibut to be had at the weekend market a few blocks away for less than $10. The only conclusion I can draw from this is that there is some kind of extra-preferential treatment when the folks at S&S know someone will publish a favorable review while the rest of us are left with a highly hyped, but ho-hum experience. For much better downtown dining at a much more reasonable price, I recommend Saks, Orso, Glacier Brewhouse, Snow Goose, Snow City Cafe, or Platinum Jaxx.

Takes absolutely forever to get your food. Huge turn off for me. All three time that I have eaten there my experience has been the same. Also the food is overpriced for the quality. I don't recommend eating at this establishment.

After a BUNCH of recommendations to dine here during my busines trip, I thought it couldn't possibly lived up to my expectations. I was wrong. Great service even though they were packed on a Monday night. Great view of the water from the bar. The food was amazing. I had grilled salmon and it was cooked perfectly. I'm really glad I made it here before I had to go home. Pricey but worth it. They had happy hour specials and a fixed price meal special that made it pretty affordable. I would definitely return.

Alaska has become a favorite of mine. I've been inland, out to sea, spent time in local hangouts as well as tourist traps throughout the state. I still have a long way to go before I can say I've seen the state, but I can with some confidence tell you that I know about AK.\r
\r
S&S is a great place for dinner downtown. Great view, fantastic wine list as well as beer, excellent service and good food. The halibut here is amazing any way they prepare it. The staff here is professional, knowledgeable and fast (by AK standards). The view is great and the vibe is comfortable. The one con I might mention is that the reception/hostess staff does not work well under pressure. They lack experience relative to the wait and bar staff. Don't let this initial experience sour you on the rest of your meal. The food is amazing, the view is great and you can't go wrong here.\r
\r
One last thing. S&S is always working hard to play a good and kind role in the community. They almost always run specials that include portions of the proceeds going towards local charities and other community needs. During my last visit there was a local fisherman who was injured on the job. In order to help defray medical costs as well as other bills, S&S donated money to the family. I like knowing that my money goes towards helping someone in need- especially locally. I also like knowing that the restaurant and its staff care enough to do this.

This was a wonderful treat for me, less than a block from my hotel (The Hotel Captain Cook) I found Simon & Seafort's where I enjoyed excellent food, outstanding service and breathtaking views.\r
\r
\r
My favorites:The Tipsy Clams and Simon & Seafort's Classic Seafood Boil. The staff here goes all out to to ensure that your dining experience is a memorable one. \r
\r
If you are serious about dining this is a must stop when in Anchorage. And don't forget to join The Premier Dining Club, select recipes, dining ideas and they remember your birthday. \r
\r
\r
Ray Gaither\r
Fisher Brittany Consultants\r
Brooklyn,NY\r

Service was superb. Very prompt, efficient, and friendly. My date could not make up his mind between two entrees, and the server offered to create a combination of the two.

Simon's is a solid, American steak and seafood kind of joint, but their weekly special menus offer more variety and slightly more inventive entrees than the regular, year-round menu that can be found on the web. The dining room is decorated like an early 20th century hotel, and in the summer offers views of the inlet.

The restaurant frequently offers coupons and special deals which makes it a great value, so check their website.
