Wrongful Death
Atkinson v. Metlakatla Indian Community, et al. Represented defendants, Metlakatla Indian Community Annette Islands Reserve and individual employees sued in wrongful death and negligent hiring and oversight action with claimed damages in excess of $5,000,000. Protracted litigation resulted in full summary judgment and case dismissal in defendant's favor. No appeal taken.
Misdemeanors
Over twenty-two years of combined criminal and civil litigation experience, including three years defending military members in the U.S. Air Force against misdemeanor and felony charges, and nineteen years defending civil claims against physicians, hospitals, insurance companies, governmental entities and other organizations on claims ranging from medical negligence, personal injury and insurance bad faith. Civil litigation experience includes, trial experience defending an aircraft maintenance company in a jury trial resulting in a split verdict, and litigation experience preparing and defending a small claims matter for a national airline in a bench trial resulting in a defense verdict, presenting numerous oral arguments on dispositive motions with an emphasis on medical negligence actions, and arguing several appeals before the Alaska Supreme Court.
Murder
Thirty-five years of both civil and criminal litigation experience defending claims against physicians, hospitals, manufacturers, and other organizations. During the past twenty-five years, tried and won medical negligence, products liability, wrongful termination, contract, and other personal injury cases against the most prominent plaintiffs' attorneys in Alaska, Michigan and Washington. While a Member of the U.S. Air Force, defended the only capital murder case brought during term of service. Mr. Lazar became a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2005. Wrongful Termination
Mr. Lamb's experience also includes defending commercial truck drivers and drivers of rental cars; defending architects, physicians, and hospitals against professional negligence claims; defending wrongful termination cases against the State of Alaska and medical professionals; defending negligence cases against Alyeska Ski Resort and Hilltop Ski Resort; defending the State of Alaska, Department of Transportation against negligent highway design and maintenance claims; defending the Alaska Railroad and Municipality of Anchorage against negligent operation and maintenance claims; and defending the State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources against claims it negligently fought a wildfire in 1996, that resulted in the loss of over 330 structures. Employment Discrimination
Ibale v. Safeway. Represented defendant in federal court in wrongful termination case, with plaintiff alleging Title VII violations of race and gender discrimination, age discrimination under the Age Discrimination Employment Act, breach of contract, breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing, and emotional distress. Summary judgment granted in its entirety by U.S. District Court. Plaintiff appealed to the 9th Circuit, which affirmed summary judgment.

Sexual Harassment
The firm has represented employers in a variety of employment-related lawsuits including defense of wrongful discharge suits, defense of class actions alleging wage and hour violations, defense of sexual harassment and other discrimination lawsuits, and related tort and contract claims.

Premises Liability
Mr. Thomas has been with the firm since 1985. His practice focuses primarily on Litigation Law, defending tort lawsuits in the fields of personal injury, automobile and other products liability, premises liability, and property damage, as well as representing insurers in UIM, bad faith and declaratory judgment actions. He has acted and assisted as local counsel on behalf of such companies as General Motors and Toyota. He is counsel to the state-mandated property/casualty insurance guaranty association, and he is both counsel and administrator for the state-mandated life and health insurance guaranty association. He has drafted bills making significant changes to the Alaska Insurance Guaranty Association Act and the Alaska Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association Act. His work has taken him throughout the State of Alaska, where he has resided since 1965.

C&D Moonlighting, Inc. v. Gamel: obtained defense verdict in jury trial involving a claim for property damage. The plaintiff used an expert at trial, whereas the defendant did not.
