This little sandwich shop has it all, from subs to pizza, but the real reason to keep going back is the terrific soup! Thick, rich, full of fresh flavor, and at roughly 1/2 the price just down the steet, these soups make a meal all on their own. Of course if you must have solid food you can't do any better than the Seafood Melt sub or the Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza. Manager Bryon isn't perfect, though. He is a little heavy handed on the spicy soups, with the Beef Stew and Reindeer Sausage being great for those who like zest but a little strong for my taste. Good people, good service, and excellent food. Now if they just had a parking lot...

If you're in the mood for an incredible sandwich/sub or looking for some hot homemade soup then this is the place. I have never had a bad meal at Alaska Subs and eat there at least two times a week. The staff is super friendly and since the construction on the convention center started I now have them deliver my lunch. The delivery is fast and my food is always HOT!!! If you haven't tried them you must. I recommend them to all of my friends and they never disappoint.

They truely serve up the best. Whether a sandwich, soup (made from scratch) or the pizza (the chicken bacon ranch is addictive) you will have a favorite place to eat, once you've eaten here. If you are out for a walk, you really should stop in. However, they are right next to the new conference center that is being built so also, make sure you have their number to place a delivery call, because it is next to impossible to find any parking.

Well, after reading the previous review, I decided to check this place out just to satisfy my curiosity, as a retired HEALTH INSPECTOR from California I am very aware of how food is to be handled and the appearance of food handlers. These are my findings. I observed that this establishment was exceptionally well kept and the help were ALL wearing gloves down the whole food service line. ALL food handlers were wearing black baseball type caps as required by health orginizations throughout the US if they are not wearing hair nets. I noticed that there were people working at this establishment whom were of Asian descent, which is not a mark against an establishment as long as they are aware of, and practice safe food handling proceedures. This was my experience when I came in and placed my order at 12:04 (lunch time at most delis) ; There was a line at the door, mainly construction crew and office workers, at 12:09 my order was taken quickly by the man at the register, he placed the order on the ticket line in sequence and my sandwich was dressed by 12:11 then per my request sent through the oven. 12:12 it was removed and dressed with lettuce, tomato, and less the onion as I had requested, wrapped, and handed to me by 12:14. Do the math. That was only ten minutes during lunch with a sea of blaze orange in front of me. That's pretty damn impressive for the amount of staff I could see in the food service area, and I also have to say that the Greek Halibut, as strange as it sounds, is one hellava good sandwich. I will definitely be returning. Of the two reviews about this place, I have to agree with the Recommended rating, as it more effectively describes my own experience. Two things I noticed; phoodcritick neglected to leave information about themselves on their profile, phoney?. They also made a conflicting claim as it was stated the food handler's were not wearing hair nets, but it took the delivery driver almost two hours to make their delivery?

That is not stringy cheese on your sub! It's the contents of the staff's hairbrush placed on a stale bread roll slathered in mayo. Don't do it. Health inspectors. . .get in here and close this hole down! Food handlers certification rules are being violated! If hair nets (coverings) were being enforced, I would not have all this hair on my sandwich! DISCUSTING!

An ad in the Daily news drew my attention. It is located on 7th and Fst between two construction sites making parking difficult, but possible. I was informed by the fellow at the counter that the ""10 Minute Loading Zone"" was for customer use and not to worry. It was hidden around the corner from Dark Horse Coffee, but a sign out front pointed the way. When I entered the store, the friendly counter person said ""Hello"", and offered me a menu. Inside the store was clean, warm, and inviting. I told him it was my first time and he walked me through the menu pointing out a couple sandwiches like the wild alaskan smoked salmon, greek halibut, seafood melt, and skinny raven, to name a few. He turned the menu over revealing salads and pizzas. I asked which pizza was the best, and he told me the North Pole Special or Chicken Ranch. I ordered the 12 "" Chicken Ranch then he told me about their Homemade soups, which he swears are made from scratch daily. According to the young man, they have many items which are Homemade. I chose the ""Southern Comfort Chicken"" soup, and asked him if I could have the soup first. He gladly obliged my request and by the time I was done with my soup I had my pizza! The soup was Delicious! Creamy and rich, loaded with vegetables, and nice big chunks of chicken. You could TELL this didn't come out of a can. The pizza was very tasty as well, the flavors melded well together, and the pizza overall I would have to rank and 8 on a score of 1 - 10. Lots of great toppings, chunks of chicken, a creamy ranch base, not what I expected from a ""Sub"" shop. The young man asked me how my meal was, and offered me a to go box which I gladly accepted, then he and a young asian lady said ""Thank You"" , which I've noticed lately isn't something you get when you go most places to eat lately, and ""Please Come Back Again"". No more Subway for this guy, and watch out Soup N@zi ! Gourmet Subs, keep up the good work!
