Lots of talk - but service is AWFUL
Their showrooms are beautiful and when you are there the staff are very friendly. Discover them while on an Alaskan cruise this summer.
But once you purchase something and need some alterations everything changes. I purchased a mink coat that needed some minor alterations, after paying for the item in full and being told it would be shipped within a week I became extemely disappointed. Customer service and communication were awful.
The coat was not delivered for nearly 3 months after the date of purchase! Everytime I called to check the status of the coat I was told it was being sent within the next few days. Well those days turned into months with many many phone calls on my behalf to see where my jacket was. When it was finally shipped it was delivered on my doorstep without the requirement of a signature....a $4,000.00 coat was just left to sit on my stoop until I arrived home.
Shortly after having the coat, in fact, only had worn the coat twice...some of the stitching related to the alterations gave way. I needed to have it repaired inorder to wear it. Instead of paying for shipping and insurance to mail it back to Alaska - especially not knowing how long it would take for me to get it back - I took it to a local fur dealer for repairs.
My local fur dealer gladly made the repairs free of charge but commented when they opened the jacket to make the repairs they discovered the stitching/alterations to be that of a "Christmas Eve" special....meaning the stitching of the alterations was completed very quickly and lacked quality and proper technique. You would think for as long as they had my coat, the alterations should have been made properly and show quality workmanship!!!
Moral of the experience....shop local, avoid the Alaska Fur Gallery. They know they will not see you again therefore quality workmanship and customer service are lacking.
