Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta is my new favorite restaurant at the Disneyland Resort. Chef de Cuisine Jay Garcia and his team have developed a delicious menu full of lots of flavor, quality ingredients, and attention to detail. Beyond the quality of the food is the extra training that has gone in to training restaurant's Cast Members. Chef Garcia worked with all of the restaurant's Cast Members--from the cooks to the bussers and beyond to educated them on all of the food selections and how they are prepared. Because of this training, the Cast Members I interacted with were extremely knowledgeable about the food and the were able to provide suggestions based upon their experiences. The flat bread pizza at Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta are works of art. Each pizza is handmade with fresh ingredients. The sauces are hand "painted" on each pizza with silicone brushes so that just the right amount of sauces goes on. By hand making each pizza with just the right amount of sauce and toppings, the Disney chefs have made sure they have developed a flat bread pizza that is crispy with every bite--never greasy or soggy at the bottom. What I love most about Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta is that it is the perfect place to eat for families. For my family of five, we will probably get a couple of pizzas and then a salad or pasta and eat family style. Plus, when eating "family style" you get a little bit of everything! Next time you are at Disney California Adventure Park, Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta is the place to go for a delicious meal with big enough portions for sharing that will help stretch your dining dollars.
I recently visited 50/50 after a football game, a group of us were meeting there before going to dinner somewhere. We ordered drinks and appetizers and watched sports on TV. Not only was the staff very friendly, the owner came by and was telling us about his own creation, a fabulous cheesy dip. I found the menu to be very creative with so many different style hamburgers and then of course the 'build your own' that was awesome. I was so impressed that for my B-day lunch, I celebrated there along with several co-workers. They loved the food, the atmosphere, the service. We wanted to try everything on the menu. We ordered 3 different appetizers, had non-stop drinks, and then ordered our lunch, there was a hamburger style for every person. I heard everyone at our table say they definitely were going back, and everyone thanked me for selecting a fun place to have lunch that had fabulous food. You MUST experience 50/50 !!
While staying at the convention center hotel I wanted something to do. I ask the bell desk where there was a pool table. I was given the name of Danny K's. as I started to walk away another bellman ask if I was looking for a pool hall. I said no. More like a dive bar with a pool table. he said then you do not want to go to Danny K's. go the other direction about 7 or 8 blocks. Place on the left is called GOOD OL' BOYS SALOON. I followed his directions and entered just what the doctor ordered. A Dive bar with 2 pool tables, 3 Dart boards a shuffle board and the cutest little bartender asking me what I would like to drink. I met a lot of good working class joes, just like myself. Had a great time and made a few friends. This should be on the convention list of things to do in the Disney area if your too old for the Kiddie crap. Loved it.
