Deceptive business practices. We paid the co-pay required but Monarch Dental (American Fork) refuses to refund the amount in excess of what our ExBen says we needed to pay.



Monarch's office manager told us they couldn't put the amount back on our Flex Reimb Card because they were still waiting for the insurance to pay their share. Weeks later they admitted that they don't even submit the extra charge to insurance because they know it isn't allowed.



Insurance told us all the allowed amounts are included in the procedure codes and that Monarch isn't allowed under their contract as an "In Network" provider to charge us other amounts that they don't submit to our dental insurance plan.



It has been months and Monarch even refuses to refund the amount they show as a "credit" on our account.

My daughter has an infected tooth which has to be pulled and is causing her pain because Dr. Brown did not clean it properly. I spoke with the manager who said that children's teeth are harder to clean and that it is better if they go to a pediatric dentist. So then, why weren't we referred immediately before the damage was done? My daughter had a tooth pulled by Dr. Brown, which repeatedly fell out and would not stay in. She put a crown on my son's tooth which fell out as soon as we got home. We went back to have her put it back on and she let us know that she was very unhappy that we were ever there, even though we maintained a professional attitude. We had to go to a pediatric dentist to have the crown put on right. I would like to know why they accept children patients, if they don't want them and cannot take care of their teeth. Also, if a dentist cannot properly clean a child's tooth, can she properly clean an adults'?

They are just very rude and neglectful to their patients. It's been Almost 2 weeks from today since I got my wisdom teeth out by Dr. Steele and I am still in an extreme amount of pain. I have had 2 dry sockets, one on each side. As I am dying in pain I go back in for a check up and they give me more pain pills and a antibiotics tell me I'm fine and to go home. come to find out the next day I had a dry socket which are EXTREMELY painful that happened twice where they had sent me home. Then it was after hours, I was dying from pain. I called the ON CALL "dr" for him just to tell me to come back during Normal business hours. They have just been neglectful rude idiots in my opinion. They don't know how to treat people nor do they know what they're doing. Not to mention, I tried to ask to get a hold of Dr. Steele since he was the one who had initially did the extraction. When I asked for his number they gave me a customer service call center. It's just been plain awful needless to say.

Plain crappy work! They hired a dentist who didn't know what he was doing and ruined 2 of my teeth. While doing a shallow filling, he drilled too deep leaving me to have to get a root canal and crown on one and the other is filled up with so much cement that my tooth is now clear. They fired him and now I've been having issues with the hygienist. They do not allow you to refuse any treatment or they refuse to work with you. My dental insurance covers a basic cleaning yet they told me I need a deep cleaning due to periodontal disease around a crown of mine. Well a crown may irritate the gums your whole life and may not truely represent gum disease. They want $80 every time I go for a basic cleaning on top of what insurance gives them and they won't allow me to sign a refusal waiver for this treatment because of Monarch policy. All other offices allow you to control YOUR plan of care, but not at Monarch. Insurance fraud? Talked to 2 other (non-monarch) dental offices within a short distance from them and they state that they would not recommend anyone to go to them. They also stated they get "many" of their patients coming from Monarch dental looking for them to repair what Monarch messed up. I was skeptical at first, but I will never go back and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

I was a little worried about switching to a new dentist but the doctors at Monarch have been great. My poor 5 year old needed 8 fillings. Monarch has worked great with him, so far we have 6 down and 2 more to go. They also take both mine and my husbands detal plans and so we have not had to pay 1 cent out of pocket for any of the work they have done for our family.
