Overall

I had Midwestern out to my house to repair a toilet and look at a dripping faucet in my basement. There is a service charge of $49 but that is one of the cheaper ones I found so I am happy with that. I also found out that they pay their employees by the hour instead of on commission like most of the rooters and a lot of other plumbing shops out there. This was a very low pressure experience. The plumber who was very nice fixed all of my problems, and was clean and courteous. My total bill was under $500.00 and considering I ended up with a new toilet and a new laundry faucet I thought that was more than fair. I highly recommend them.

I Highly Recommend Midwestern Plumbing. They were on time, cleaned up after themselves, and very professional.

Overall
Pricey, Work didn't last, Poor Guarantee

Last summer Midwestern Plumbing came to my home to repair two leaky exterior water spigots. Their repairman showed up promptly, which was nice. He satisfactorily completed the repairs in about 15 minutes, also nice. Then came the bill - $210!! I was shocked. When I asked why it was so high he stated there was something like a $50 charge just for coming out. Since I live less than a half of a mile from their office I asked if he could waive or reduce it. Nope. There were also other charges, like a minimum service charge (or something like that) and then a minimum labor charge, regardless of the actual length of work done. I said he could slice and dice the bill any way he wanted, but that was simply outrageous for a 5-minute round trip, 15 minutes of work, and a couple bucks (literally) in parts. After more complaining on my part he said all he was authorized to do was to cut $15 off the price. Whoopty-Do. At least now my spigots don't leak.

Fast-Forward to this spring and guess whose spigots are leaking again? Yup, this guy's. It is even worse than before actually. I turned on the sprinkler and got blasted in the shorts with water blowing out the top of the spigot. So I thought to myself, "Self, with how much I paid to get this fixed there certainly must be some type of guarantee on the work. I should call them back and check." As it turns out there is a guarantee! It lasts 30 days. Wow. I could fix a leak with a stick of gum and some duct tape it would hold for at least 30 days.

Bottom line, I won't be doing business with these guys again.

Update:

My wife called and I guess was more persuasive than I. She managed to get them agree to come back out at no charge, so that was nice. I wasn't there for the appointment but she said the repairman said we just had a cracked part that we could replace ourselves for cheap. He told my wife where to get the part and how to fix it. A minor improvement in service but I have to wonder why if it was so easy he didn't just fix it to make a happy customer, especially considering what we already paid.

Upgraded to 2 stars.
