Please PLEASE PLEASE think twice about joining this gym.
The cancellation policy is ridiculous. They require you to send in a letter to the HQ. Now remember dont forget to track the letter because if you dont it seems to get 'lost'. Believe me, im not the only person who this has happened to.
Problem is, even after I have sent in the letter AND recieved acknowledgement that it was recieved I have still been charged for the next 2 MONTHS after that.
It is a way to make extra money for them.
They will tell you it can be done electronically for some of the locations but not all???!!!
We live in a world where technology is so advanced yet they can create a consistent process online for all locations.
DONT NOT GET INVOLVED IN A CONTRACT WITH THESE PEOPLE BECAUSE YOU WILL END UP WRITING A 1 STAR REVIEW ON HERE LIKE THIS ONE.

WARNING WARNING ---- Please, Please check out the reviews of this company (Fitness Connection) before signing anything. Based off my experience it may cost you more than you think. This business is not (or can’t get) Better Business Bureau accredited due to poor business practices and virtually no customer satisfaction on complaints, which are numerous. Their rating with the BBB is a big fat “F”, you can’t get a lower rating. Their business is driven by low cost promotions, hidden fees, and a ~$30 sneaky annual membership fee that no one purposely highlights, and prolonged cancellation period where you are charged while you wait for the cancelation to become finalized.

They claim they received my cancelation letter with a postmark date of 10/6, so I had to pay for Oct and Nov since they say it takes 30 days to cancel the membership. Hence my membership was official canceled on 11/5 so I had to pay for Nov since the month already started. They claimed my charge card company refused payment for Oct and they charged me another $10+ dollars for payment being refused and another $10+ because I didn’t resolve it in 5 days. Not sure how I would have known to resolve it, they suggested I should have checked my charge card account, like I should check it daily for refused payments. When was the last time your charge card company out of the blue refused to pay something? They could not provide any proof of this and suggested I get a letter from my charge card company explaining why they refused payment?

Attempts to resolve this over the phone only ended in threats to continue to incur late charges and sending it to collections. Nice group of non-customer service. End result for me is a 3 month membership (I was on month to month) for my son during the summer, ended up costing the equivalent of about 8 months ($168+). As I said, that cheap (?) promotion is the hook to soak for more money. Beware - may end up costing you more than you think.

Shame on them and shame on me for not really investigating them closer. And all I wanted was a place for my son to work out for 3 months. I begrudgingly have to admit they got me, I was sucked in by the cheap (?) promotion and I paid for that mistake. I guess I’m smarter now and they have a lifelong enemy.

Big rip off, lots of hidden! The $9.95 a month the send in the mail turn to $19.95 when you get there plus a yearly club fee of $29.95 and a join fee as well. Very unprofessional team that runs this place. Watch out, don't be fooled and pressured when at the club to join.

Their cancellation policy is ridiculous. In the contract, it says that you must send a letter to cancel. No where does it state that it HAS to be certified. I assumed they received my letter because I never heard from them again. Several months later I received a letter from a collections agency that I owed them $43.26. This shocked me not only because it was months later, but also because they were willing to attempt to ruin a young adult's credit for a measly $43.26. The collections agencies usually take a hefty percentage of that anyways, so their "profit" would have been even less. Anyways, I called the collections agency to find out why I had this debt that I should not have. They informed me that the letter should have been certified. Therefore, I had to pay the debt. I will never restore my membership here, and I will warn others from joining as well.

This was my first time stepping foot in a Fitness Connection ever. My brother lives in Allen and told me he joined a gym i should look into. So I went with him to the gym as a guest. I wasn't even there 3 minutes before being hassled by the general manager Mike Underwood about joining and required my drivers license. He also informed me that he wasn't going to give me a tour of the gym because he's "cool". Mike Underwood then seated me at a table and had me fill out paperwork again, pertaining to signing up. I filled the paperwork out and gave it back to Mike. He then told my brother that because I was his guest, I wouldn't be allowed to play basketball in the gym but able to use any other piece of equipment due to liability issues. I also had to wait an additional 5 minutes while they searched for my drivers license they misplaced. So you mean to tell me I have a higher chance at hurting myself on a basketball court than lifting equipment? It just sounded a little odd. I would probably never return to this particular location not for fact that I as a guest was unable to use the gym, but because the customer service is beyond poor.

The gym looks good doesnt have a pool but my main thing is the vustomer service sucks there an actual manager told me i was manipulating them and their system which is kind of when youtell them that youll want people to join never ask gor brad or brat hes a manger there and he was very rude
