Dr. Whitlock was my Vet for many years in Denham Springs, La. He is very professional, knowledgeable and has a great bedside manor. My pet and I both loved him!

I had my dog spayed here. The next morning when I went in to pick her up, I went to the kennel that they had her in where she was laying in a puddle of blood. I was given no warning that she was bleeding, I just went in and saw it. She was bleeding from her incision and after questioning them about all the blood they said that they would try to wrap her belly. I held her while they wrapped her and I loaded her up to bring her home, still drenched in blood. They gave me no instructions, no medications, nothing. After getting her home, she continued to bleed puddles from her incision. My husband called very upset but the vet was not in and we were told he would call us back. When we got the return call, we were told that the bleeding from the incision was not normal, and that she needed to come back in. I asked the vet why he didn't tell me that while I was there and he said he was in a hurry to get to the animal shelter. I did not feel comfortable bringing my dog back to these people who had done absolutely nothing to help her, so I brought her to see another vet. She had to end up having another surgery. It turns out she was bleeding internally because something was not sutured properly. She had lost so much blood that her blood count was at 26 and it should be between 40-45. DO NOT send your animal to Rapides Animal Medical Center! I am disgusted that anyone would allow my baby to just lay in a kennel in a puddle of her own blood and then knowingly just send her home like that! I did bring a copy of the bill from her second surgery and was reimbursed by the vet and he apologized. Although this was a kind gesture, letting a dog leave his office in this condition says a lot about his character.
