I had been wanting to learn Capoeira for many years but never lived near an opportunity. I moved to ABQ in Feb of 2010 and began taking classes in March. My first impressions of the owner/instructor Mestre Virgulino were a humble and very positive man. When I began classes I had been out of training for anything for years due to 2 wrist surgeries and a back surgery and weighed nearly 350lbs. Mestre Virgulino has had patience and sincere pride in teaching myself and all of his students, with his help I've lost over 90lbs and I will be receiving my first promotion this week. Let me also stress, this is not your normal McDojo, but it is also not the modern MMA academy, if you are looking for either of these, you may as well go home. Mestre Virgulino was born and raised in Brazil, and teaches not only the physical movements of Capoeira, but the culture and the art of it as well. When you arrive to train here you know you will be given all the tools necessary to grow in this art. Give it a try, I did.

I am a student of Kung Fu San Soo Albuquerque. I am one of the most proud students ever! I came into this martial art with absolutley no training in any type of any other before. Not only do I attend, my Fiance and our 2 sons attend also. It has brought a sence of peace and humility into our homes. Instructor Ish is truly a one of a kind person. He brings the art to a realization and makes you want to learn and come back for more. He is Genuine and his teachings are inspiring. I had no idea how to move my body or even had the confidence to think that i could ever do something this great. Kung Fu San Soo is a life saving self defense, a family, an art, a life changing martial art. I would reccomend this to anyone of any age of any size of any back ground. My family and I feel safe and confident and greatful. Not to mention, you get in great shape, you meet amazing people, you make life long changes. I am blessed to have been led to Ish and Kung Fu San Soo. Take it from me, you wont regret it!!
My son and I attended Champion Taekwondo Center, for over 11years, we both received our black belts in Taekwondo. Now I have my grandson in Taekwondo, he has been doing it for over 3 years, and is halfway there to his black belt. Master Ballard has worked with us, and is a great inspiration to all of us. I do notice that my youngest son has obtained great values by doing Taekwondo, and has respect for any authority figure, and my Grandson is learning to obey and respect authority also. I recommend Taekwondo to all my friends who have children, and Combat Hapkido for self-defense to all women. I also recommend that they go to Champion Martial Arts, because Master Ballard has the experience in all forms of Martial Arts, and know how to work with children and individuals, to make it a great experience, so that you enjoy attending his Martial Arts School. It is worth the fees they charge, which are minimal, compared to most Martial Arts schools.
My experience at the CSC is wonderful. I was a first time student, I had never been in an environment like that before. I was made to feel comfortable and accepted from the moment I first walked in. The teaching is fast paced but there is never any hesitation to slow down. There is a vast amount of material to learn, this is offered in such a way that I never feel pressured into advancing faster then what I am comfortable with. While the physical material alone is totally worth it, they offer all the background and history to said material. Where it all comes from, why and how. Who and what. Amazing the amount of information that you gain! I went into this school just looking for something to do to help me get some physical exercise and have found so much more!!! Truly a unique and fantastic experience I would recommend anyone that is interested in martial arts to just stop by and talk with the instructors. Come and see for yourself!
I've been training at Silent Thunder Dojo for about 3 years and I'm currently a black belt candidate under the harsh scrutiny of the head instructor Master Mokurai. Ever since my first free month at Silent Thunder I've missed less classes than I have fingers. Because of the all encompassing training style at Silent Thunder, even when life gets hard and I was sore, injured, tired and sick I still come to every class. I had been out of wushu a couple of years. I decided it was past time to get back into it, so I signed up at Martial Artistry. I wasn't sure what to expect, but what I found was a great bunch of students and instructors that are super friendly, highly knowledgeable in wushu, and overall a great school I'm proud to be a part of. Wushu is an amazing martial art, and Martial Artistry is a great ambassador for this great art. You won't be disappointed if you join!
I've been taking lessons at this school for four years now. It's very friendly atmosphere and the knowledge of it's instruction staff make it a wonderful place to learn and practice Kung Fu and Wu Shu. It has many long time students so that's proof that the students are happy! Many students who have left due to work or going off to college have come back to continue their education in this art. I highly recommend Martial Artistry!
Discipline, dignity, and dragon spirit are the most important lessons I have learned in my life and Master Mokurai’s Taekwondo classes are to thank for them. The lessons do not only help my physical wellbeing, but enriches me mentally. Looking back on my previous living habits I am incredibly grateful for Master Mokurai’s teaching because it turned my life around completely.
Sifu and her staff present a self paced, modern take, on Kung Fu. I have a 7 and a 9 year old at Martial Artistry, (also had my 5 yr old girl there, she LOVED it but wanted to take *vallet [yes that should be a 'b'] ) and they LOVE LOVE it. The staff is very patient and worked to make sure both of my kids had the kind of attention they needed to succeed.
A fantastic school with a very dynamic instructor group.. Not just one instructor but a dozen. This school is very dedicated to being a family environment from their Little Dragon program for 3-7 year olds to the the adult classes for every age. Please come and visit us and try a free class.
