I have been going to the "back door" for the past 36 years and have always had great food and because it is so dark, it gives you time to scram in case someone you don't want to see comes in. Charlie is a great guy and knows everything you would want to know about Albuquerque and Santa Fe...the sad part, Charlie has not been feeling so well. I wish him the very best. It appears that his son Jamie is running the place now and he is also good people. So if you love good Mexican food that is prepared different from anyone else in town, go by Charlies Back Door! Tell them that Tom White sent you!
This is one of Albuquerques best restaurants! The other person who has reviewed this is either a liar or in competition with this restaraunt. Wecks has wonderful customer service and the staff is very friendly. If the person who wrote the other review was honest he (or she) would have put his name- and Wecks would not have the customer base it already has. If you don't know which one of us to believe just call anyone who's ever eaten at Wecks and no doubt they will recommend it.
The rumors being spread about this market are false. I am a permanent customer here and I know that they sell fresh halaal meat. If you go to the market, ask to see the receipts for the meat that is being sold; the owner is willing to show you that it is halaal meat that he is selling. The resturant portion, food is amazing and delicious, i.e. afghan made kabob, rice and qorma, karahi and many more. ... The Afghan bread is the best bread I ever tested in Albuquerque.
