Direct Funeral Services is a locally owned funeral home that has served the central New Mexico area for over 20 years. Located in Albuquerque, NM, we specialize in sensible, respectful and affordable cremations and funerals. We know that people are often unable or unwilling to pay for lavish funeral expenses, so we offer more basic, but still extremely respectful, services at a much lower cost. Our licensed, sensitive and professional staff is made up of long-time New Mexicans, who are familiar with and sensitive to the varied cultural and religious customs and traditions of our clientele. We serve all faiths, and we conduct services at all New Mexico cemeteries. We provide many veterans' services, and offer low-cost arrangements at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Our 8,000-square-foot facility includes: Chapel with pitched ceiling, warm ambient lighting and ample seating for 90 Backlit, decorative stained glass depicting Biblical scenes Viewing room with beautiful tile floors and floral stained glass that seats 60 On-site crematory with cremation witnessing available Attractive showroom featuring caskets, urns, keepsakes, books and grave markers We also provide pre-planning, consultations and information, and we maintain files for those patrons who have pre-planned.         If you care about your needs being respected, go somewhere else. Due to their incomplete and inconcise communication, these people caused us to miss the internment of our mother. When we called to share with them what had happened, we were told we would get a call back. They should have responded immediately and respectfully. Never called back. When I called again and said we would review them negatively on the internet, their response was, "fine, go ahead". I cringe to think we trusted our Mother's remains to them. Do not use these folks unless you don't care about the person who has died.

        I posted a review back in June...

        In May 2012 we were in a position to utilize the services of Direct Cremation and Burial Service. We looked at different options in the Albuquerque area and because the financial aspect can be expensive, we found this company to be the best priced. And although we used this company, we had the unpleasant experience of having the owner be rude and unsympathetic to our needs. Fortunately, we were mainly dealing with one of his employees named Mike Mahoney who really took care of us. The owner on the other hand made rude comments about our needs and even told us that we could go elsewhere for services. I wonder if he regularly bullies his customers because he knows his prices are much lower than his competition or if it was just a one time incident. Nonetheless, the price fit our needs, Mr. Mahoney was gracious and it all got worked out in the end. My advice: If you have to use this company, make sure you don't deal directly with the owner. He is an unsympathetic jerk. The family saved over $1,000 but at the expense of being somewhat insulted.
