        Established in 1968, The Albany County Sewer District works to provide wastewater services. Its operation and maintenance costs are funded through user fees and assessments. The district operates a board of commissioners that is appointed by the Albany County Legislature. The Albany County Sewer District handles permit, operational, maintenance and laboratory functions. It disposes on-site bio-solids that are generated from treatment through incineration and helps various communities with treatment plants. The district also helps in the removal of heavy solids, grease and oil from the collection system. The Albany County Sewer District additionally issues permits under the Scavenger Waste Program, which allows haulers to dispose waste at the district's facility. It is located in Albany, N.Y.
