So we took our brand new car to South Shore today after using them on and off for the last 2 years. Generally I'd been pretty happy with them, they do an OK job for the money you pay. A few scratches here and there but nothing worthy of complaint. Today was a different story. My girlfriend took her 3 week old car for its 1st ever car wash and leaves with a 10in scratch on the hood. This is no ordinary scratch, it’s a scratch that clearly looks to have come from someone bending over the hood to dry the car (I wish I could post pictures on here). If you see the angle that it's at, its clear this was not just your average scratch. I approached the owner Bob, and his first words are "we did not do that". Not the response i expected to hear right off the bat. We then 'discussed' the issue for the next 5 or 10 mins but he remained adamant that they were a "professional outfit" and they do not scratch cars like that. He then told me that I could not tell him that employees scratched it, a bit hypocritical when he stands there saying they did not scratch my cat. He then compared my incident to someone having lost a hubcab which I didn't really understand but he was trying to make the point to me that this happens all the time and he didn't really want to deal with it.

The conversation ended with him agreeing to review his video surveillance and get back to us. To be 100% honest, I don't expect a call. We stopped in at a local body shop afterwards to get a quote and even the man that looked at the car said the scratch looked strange and that my hypothesis made sense.

I admit this is a case of he said she said and that we will probably be out of pocket around $700 for a hood respray if they can't polish it out but a little more accountability wouldn't have been out of place. If you are washing hundreds of cars a day, a couple of them are going to get damaged.

It did help that a woman, as we were leaving, asking Roy to move her car as she could see people walking past it, bumping into it, and was worried it would be scratched. it's not the other clients she needs to worry about at South Shore.

End of the day this place washes hundreds of cars a day so me not taking any of my cars back there won't hurt their business but it will save my wallet on body shop visits and pointless arguments. Save yourself the aggro and do it yourself.

VERY THOROUGH JOB. GIVE THEM A GOOD TIP!!

    Provided by

I have a humble 6 year old Honda Civic and they treated my car as if it were the President's Limousine. Fast and thorough, with a supervisor to give the car another look over. They were able to remove a scuff on the dashboard which the workers under the prior management never were able (or interested) in removing. GIVE THEM A GOOD TIP and say something nice to the guys who do the work if you are pleased. They will try even harder to make your car shine and kind words means something to them.
