First United Methodist Church Of Akron

This church has the best college Sunday School class around. It is taught by a local science teacher. She teaches around CD courses that inspire and awe. Ray Vander Laan is one of her favorites. He walks you through the biblical archeolgical sites and explains the circumstances of the time in which the stories are set - gives the why to what happened in the Bible. Another of her favorites is Adam Hamilton, who is a pastor at the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood KS. His sermons are recorded and he has a wonderful way of relating how the Bible is truely God's Living Word. And if you haven't had a class where Joyce Meyer's ministry is taught - you are in for a glorious experience.



Last July we received our new minister, Dr. Alan Bevere, who is developing a campus ministry (FUMC is adjacent to the University of Akron). He is young, energetic and we look forward to this ministry blossoming in the downtown area.
