Tulsa Quick Guide
On the edge of "Green Country" in northeast Oklahoma, Tulsa straddles the gentle slope between the verdant rolling hills to the east and the dustier Tornado Alley to the west.
The former oil capital and "Birthplace of Route 66" helped fuel American industry and the population's drive westward for much of the 20th Century, and today the city's welcoming heartland spirit still attracts many newcomers, earning Tulsa props as one of "America's Most Livable Communities" (by Partners for Livable Communities).
Tulsa is home to Oklahoma State University-Tulsa and the headquarters of Quiktrip, American Fidelity, Alamo Rent-A-Car and a number of oil companies. Famous Tulsans include Garth Brooks, Blake Edwards and Alfre Woodard.
