Where to Go in San Diego
San Diego's temperatures average 70 degrees on a year-round basis. The enviable climate makes this southwestern California city an ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
Because the city is close to Tijuana, Mexico, just 17 miles to the south, you can see the area's Spanish and Mexican roots almost everywhere, in the architecture, culture and cuisine of the region.
And speaking of culture, Balboa Park is billed as "the nation's largest cultural park," and with its grand gardens, 15 museums and performing arts venues that include the Old Globe Theater, this city park lives up to its reputation quite handily. Balboa Park is also home to the city's world-renowned zoo.
Things to Do in San Diego
Spend a day at the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park in nearby Escondido, stroll around Mission Bay, and end the day with dinner at any number of fine restaurants offering local and global cuisines, or take a late afternoon or early evening tour of one of the North County's many wineries.
Some of the city's popular neighborhoods are destinations you won't want to miss: take a stroll on The Strand at Mission Beach; enjoy the urban and eclectic feel of historic Hillcrest or the Gaslamp Quarter; or take in the posh beauty, lush hotels and fine shopping venues of La Jolla by the Sea.
In addition to these popular attractions, San Diego has no shortage of cultural events and venues to keep you entertained, including the Starlight Bowl and the internationally acclaimed La Jolla Playhouse.
