Where to Go in San Antonio

Opportunities for historic encounters abound in San Antonio. The Alamo tops the list of must-see and do experiences in the city, with opportunities to tour the spot where for 13 days, less than 200 defenders held back some 4,000 troops from the Mexican Army.

The chapel and the Long Barracks Museum and Library are the only remaining structures form the original fort. Also in the downtown area are the La Villita Historic District which has been transformed into an arts and crafts community, and the King William Historic Area.

The newly-opened Museo Alameda in historic Market Square celebrates the influence of Latino culture and heritage, and is the first organization in the country to be recognized as a formal affiliate of the Smithsonian.

As for more casual pursuits, be sure to check out the Houston Street Fair and Market, held the last Saturday of each month. With parking available in the city parking garage at 400 N. St. Mary Street, this is one activity that the entire family is sure to enjoy.

Things to Do in San Antonio

The San Antonio Botanical Garden offers 33 acres of plants and flowers from around the world. The San Antonio River Walk, a point of pride for the city, takes visitors on a three-mile stroll past lush landscaping, shops and restaurants.

Basketball fans looking for a little more action can visit the San Antonio Spurs at their home, the AT&T Center.
