Miami Quick Guide
The southeastern metropolis that is Miami has come a long way from its soggy swampland roots. It's proximity to the Everglades and the Atlantic Ocean, along with its sultry, tropical climate and spicy culture and cuisine make Miami a draw for visitors from all over the world, as well as home to many native Floridians and transplants from other states who love the laid-back Florida lifestyle.
Dining out is a great way to get a feel for the city's flavor and culture. The Versailles Diner dishes up some of the best Cuban fare the city has to offer. And who but South Floridians would know that Miami is also a mecca for great barbecue? Shorty's BBQ Restaurants have been serving up some of the most succulent cuts of steak, ribs and chicken available in the southeast for over five decades.
Miami's economy is driven by banking, finance, international port and trade industries, and - of course - tourism.
Miami's City Hall is located at 3500 Pan American Dr. Other city departments and services, including the Office of City Communications, are located at the Miami Riverside Center at 444 S.W. 2nd Ave.
