Doziers has been in business since 1957. It started out as a small country store. Today it is the staple and destination point of Fulshear and the Houston area.Doziers is listed in many day trip books. Ed Dozier was an original Houston bbq cook off two time winner and was a processor for the livestock till 1985. He served actors, actresses,(Ben Johnson, Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, Farrah Fawcett and more.) Professional football coach Bum Phillups was a regular along with players like Earl Cambell etc..politician Mark White came regular for homemade bacon and would eat a bbq sandwich while his order was prepared. He once catered a poltical event in Washington DC, had to fly along with his hot bbq ready to serve. He always said that the biggest thing he ever did was served Prime Minister Dun Shao Ping. in 1985 scott & smedley evans purchased the business and all the secrets. ed stayed with us for 6 months to insure that things went smooth. the business continues with its reputation and growth to this day. since, the change was so smooth that people to this day still say " I heard doziers changed hands"! we laugh and say yes, back in 1985 we bought it! since, we continued to see, ben Johnson, james drury, bum phillups, mark white etc.. back in 1991 I was running the register, very short on help that Saturday. at the highest possible peak of the day I had all the business I could handle along with phone ringing off the wall, the white house called, " this is the head cook at the white house, the president is coming to Houston on Monday and wants your bacon." I was so busy, I didn't even have time to think. I said, "we are closed on Mondays!" there was silence, for a short time, then he said " isn't there something you can do for the president on Monday?" by then, I had gathered my thoughts, "YES WE CAN!" we received two really nice personal thank you cards from him a week or so later. we have also have been called by googles main faciality in mountainview California. we sent them 300 pounds of our homemade jerky at their request for their micro-kitchen. everything we make here. sausage,bacon, jerky, other pecan smoked meats, and our homemade bbq by the tons! we process thousands of deer each season for hunters.
