Where to Go in Columbus
For a day of culture followed by a night of good food and drink with friends, head over to the Short North for that area's gallery hop, held the first Saturday of each month. Then, swing by the Surly Girl Saloon for a pint and a serving of Frito Pie, or head to Skully's Music-Diner for dinner, drinks and dancing.
History buffs might enjoy the civic preservation efforts on display in the German Village, a 233-acre historic district jam-packed with galleries, shops and restaurants. For nature lovers, there's Schiller Park and the Huntington Garden Promenade, filled with some 7,500 square feet of flower beds and a brick and stone walkway for strolling. Schiller Park is also home to the Grace Highfield Memorial Garden.
Columbus also has a number of opportunities to take in live performances of music and dance. The Columbus Symphony Orchestra and BalletMet call the beautiful Spanish-Baroque Ohio Theater home, while the Columbus Jazz Orchestra (CJO) swings at the Southern Theatre, located in Downtown Columbus.
