I recently saw on Facebook that Seabeck Pizza now had available gluten free pizza. I was excited to try it as my daughter is celiac. A while back I had a negative experience at another local pizza place in Port Orchard that also serves GF and wanted to see the difference. I was not surprised by my experience with Seabeck Pizza as they have been around for some time and their regular pizza is always good. I called at about 4:50 pm this evening (Tuesday) and first asked what the cost of the gluten free pizza was. The response I got was "There is no price difference but we only have the one size, 14"." I was pleasantly surprised by this response as 14" is a nice size pizza and the cost was the same. I then ordered the two pizzas I needed both in the gluten free. I was told it would be 20 to 25 minutes. When I arrived about 15 minutes later, I expected to have to wait a few minutes. Again to my pleasant surprise, both pizzas were out of the oven and ready for me when I walked in the door. And finally, the taste...these were two of the best gluten free pizzas (one canadian bacon and pineapple and one pepperoni) I have had. Overall, Seabeck Pizza has one of the best values for gluten free pizza.
I haven't had this kind of pizza in a long time. Since i left the east coast, in fact. I gotta say, i wasn't expecting much when I showed up, it seemed like just another fast food pizza joint. I placed my order and while I was waiting, the manager actually talked to me. That's sort of nice in itself, considering every chain pizza place I go to has some fifteen year old in charge, and after I place my order, I just sort of stand in awkward silence while I wait for my food. This was different. We talked about our favorite kinds of pizza, and when I mentioned my favorite pizza was new york style, he offered to make my pizza that way. After about ten minutes, he presented me with a thin, but not to thin, slightly soft, perfectly browned pizza that reminded me of some of my favorite places in Manhattan. The pepperoni were big and spicy, the sauce was zesty, and the cheese was real. Like very stringy, stretchy, and delicious real. All in all, very good pizza, especially for the price! I got a large for $8. Not $8 plus tax, title, license, delivery fee, and surcharge, I paid 8 dollars even for the best pizza I've had in port orchard. Not too shabby.
We have frequented Godfather's pizza in Port Orchard for 20 years now; more often when the kids were younger but still occasionally when we want a good pizza at a good price. My 20 year old even wants to go there for his birthday dinner - I think it's the all-you-can eat buffets that keep him going back, but over the years, and through different management even, this place is always warm and friendly and serving up good family dinner deals. I couldn't count either how many soccer and basketball parties we attended there. This place is highly recommended.
