I am reviewing this place without a membership there. I am most likely planning to purchase a membership next week though. I had read some okay reviews and am looking for a gym close to my place that offers classes such as Zumba, weight/cardio combo, yoga etc. I am also more comfortable in an all female environment because I feel more comfortable. I stopped by without an appointment and was happy to see that you either have to have a key or be let in to even get in the front door.. A nice safety feature for a 24/7 gym.. But I was a little thrown off to have a guy greet me as I came in. I filled out a release form before starting a tour, and the guy (personal trainer) asked mr questions about my interests in an exercise program before starting my tour. The place was on the small side, but it was not crowded at all when I went (late morning), but I assume it fills up a little more in the evenings. The equipment appeared to be in good condition, and all of the cardio machines had a their own decent sized LCD tv monitor in front of them. There was also a cardio room with a "theater" in which a movie was projected on the wall to watch while doing cardio. The movies are suggested by the customers and the same movie is looped for 24 hours (calendar or movies us on the door). The tanning area looked nice enough with a standing booth and bed, but I cannot tan because I have a bad reaction... The locker and shower areas were nice, but smaller than I expected, and the sauna looked clean and well kept. You could even schedule a massage or nail appointment for a reasonable rate. The child care center looked nice enough, but there were not children around at the time, so I did not get to see the place in action. There was also a cycle room for classes that had plenty of bikes. As I said, I was originally thrown off guard by the male personal trainer, but he was very professional and polite. He answered all of my questions and provided me with the rates in a very soft sale low pressure way. It was refreshing not to be bullied into signing my life away when I first walked in the door. The atmosphere seemed relaxed, safe and great for my purposes. They even sell protein powder a few other goodies and have customer appreciation sales. I am using the three day free trial to see what the classes are like at different times of the day before I commit. There is only one group class room, so I want to make sure that the classes aren't too crowded.. But anyway, the place is a nice, safe, well kept gym that is a little small, but relaxed and peaceful enough to make you want to come back. And I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the soft sale. I am so much more likely to join than j would have been if I felt pressured. Two thumbs up!
4. Jade Spa
Lily at Jade Spa is a master with her massage technique. Always greets you with a smile and consistently provides 5 star service. I recommend you make an appointment - she is in high demand.
I am a 50+ male who is not very flexible and has had numerous surgeries so I was a bit concerned because I certainly didn't want to aggravate any old injuries. My concerns were quickly dispelled and I found the class exhausting but also invigorating. The teachers are exceptionally kind, talent…

So I had to say a few things! First off thank you bella for helping me lose 8 dress sizes! I have been a member for about 2yrs now and am very pleased. The reason I'm writing this is I read a review that I just had to comment on. Let me give you a little history on me and bella. When I signed up they did ask me to start working out asap and I did. I did join that day because I was ready for a lifestyle change. I can definitely see how this could put someone off though. In reality, I had shopped at 2 other big gyms prior too and thought about it, left, and never came back. Bella gave me a little push which for me I needed and got me results. I bought a 1yr membership and paid for it up front with my personal trainer. I worked with the personal trainer for the first 3 months of my membership and saw really amazing results. I like the fact that the trainers are female and are my age and have actually been in the same situation as me years before. This was the best investment I ever made and I was really impressed by the knowledge the trainer gave me and how it could apply to my daily life. Overall this gym is great for first timers like myself. Over the years I have gotten to know the staff and feel like its a community and I like that almost all the staff know my name and take the time to talk with me anytime I have a question. I would highly recommend you at least form your own opinion and check it out yourself. They give out 7 day passes like water :) I encourage any ladies to just come in try it out, talk to the members, the staff, and hopefully you will be as happy as me a few month from now.
Heavy Metal Fitness is the best gym in San Antonio....and one of the best, if not the best, in Texas. I've been a member of many globo-type gyms (i.e. Golds, 24 Hour Fitness, LA Fitness) and while those are nice, the quality at Heavy Metal Fitness with regards to equipment and atmosphere is unparalleled. Tim & Michelle (the owners) are always welcoming to anyone interested in improving yourself, regardless of whether you're an experienced lifter or brand new to any form of exercise. There are a wide range of members with varying fitness goals, from the basic gym goer who just wants to get in better overall shape to the more dedicated lifters who train to compete in the strength sports of powerlifting or strongman. In terms of a real No Judgment Zone, this place is it. If you want to get better, everyone is willing to give a helping hand. This place has everything you need, and a lot of items that you simply won't find anywhere else. Some items include: 2 x Elitefts squat racks, Glute Ham Developer, 45 degree back raise, deadlift platform, several standalone benches, tire flip, multiple sleds/Prowlers from Elitefts & Rogue, battle ropes, bands & chains, Texas power bars, Elitefts Safety Squat Bar, Cambered Bar, trap bars, Apollon's Axle, concrete Atlas stones from 145-250 lbs, multiple medicine balls from 2-12 lbs, dumbbells from 5-100 lbs, Farmers Carry, Jump boxes from 6 to 60 inches, etc.
I would like to say that Spectrum has been a great experince for me. A great way to be sociable and meet other people. Although I have to say that seeing the same people gives you a sense of trust and family feeling. I wish there where more in the Daycare area. I see that the daycare area has all new people..young people..who need more training on how to handle all ages at the same time. Because of a careless mistake on their part..and lack of supervision to my child I fear the safety for my child and others.. this gym needs cameras in the daycare area as well as people who actually have children to be sitters for the daycare area..These are kids watching kids in the daycare and it needs attention before a child looses his/her breath and no one sees why. Instead of vaccuming and cleaning before the gym closes while children are still in the room, they need to do they job they are paid for. I was glad I saw what was going on and the look in my sons eyes that we needed a change. Ive decided to switch locations and hope the next one is MORE responsible in the Daycare area than this one. ALL PARENTS KNOW THAT WHEN A CHILD CANNOT SPEAK YET, IT GIVES THEM A BIGGER ALERT..IM A PARENT, IM VERY ALERT OF MY SON AND HIS HEALTH AND HAPPINESS...ARE YOU??? Thank you for listening.
CrossFit 925 is physically, emotionally, and spiritually fulfilling for me. "Corinthians 9:25 All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize." I'm glad my husband tried it and loved it. He invited me to try it too. He knew I would love it here. The coaches are patient and sincere and still maintain a high level of discipline. They all care about each athlete individually and encourage community. They've inspired a positive culture where everyone encourages each other. The workouts are challenging, my mind & body are transforming, my confidence is increasing and I love this box and our community of crossfit athletes. Come try it out.
I really like this gym. I like the fact that when I'm working out it doesnt feel like a club or pick up "joint" I can get in work out, look like hell when I'm done and no one cares. The daycare ladies are always nice to my kids and keep me informed of upcoming events. The only thing I didn't like is when I joined, I was told by my sales rep that I would get one free workout with a trainer to go over everything. This was not the case. The trainer took me to his desk, measured me, talked to me about his cost and what he could do for me and boom...it was done. All in all I'm very happy with this gym; I can see the changes in my body that I was not getting from my workout videos.
I've been a member of WSF since 1999 and have thoroughly enjoyed working out at the fitness center. More so in the last 9 months. With the management of Wallis and now Destyni, its become easier to speak with the management about training and nutrition. Meeting with Destyni & Margaret really motivates you when going through the circuits ... and then meeting with Jesse, the Nutritionist, was really informative. I've lost 8 pounds since May 22nd and I'm extremely happy with the results. I'm looking forward to continuing the journey down this path of success and I feel its with the support of the Women's Super Fitness team at Castle Hills. MERCI BEAUCOUP!
For 2 years I have been a most satisfied member of Bella"s Women's Fitness. The membership fees are very reasonable and the gym is well equipped with great personnel and the tools for satisfying workouts. Personally I love the group fitness classes provided by personal trainer and fitness instructor Anastasia, she has boundless energy and clearly loves what she is doing. The yoga classes taught by Debbie have strengthened muscles I had forgotten about and increased my flexibility. The other ladies I have met at Bella are now my fun friends of all ages. I always go into Bella happy to be there.
I don't have much more to say than this place is GREAT!. I signed up recently and this gym has so many positives-group exercise classes, Tanning, 24/7 gym, lots of cardio and weight equipment designed just for women, sauna, massage therapy, personal training, manicure/pedicure, private showers, private lockers, towel service and so much more. I really recomend the classes they have YOGA and PILATES MY FAVE! Zumba, Bikini Bootcamp, Circuit Training and others ladies trust me give it a shot and they even have free child care for my lil ones!
they have all sorts of heavy duty equipment so if you want to get big this is the place to conisider I mean their weights alone range anywhere from 5lbs to 150lbs. Its all very well taken care of and custom colored so you dont just walk into a building with the same boring white equipment its pretty unique. Plus their memberships are month to month so you arent obligated to sign any sort of contract and its privately owned so you arent constantly getting harrassed by the staff like you do at lifetime or all these other corporate gyms.
