This was one of the most ineresting and fun places to eat I have ever been to, heres why. The place sits out on the water, at the end of a pier. You can see it from the Bridge of Lions and the Fort and just about anywhere near the water in St. Augustines Old town. It is decorated with a nautical theme, with ship and some pirate decor. The lighting is subtle and makes it feel cozy, and relaxing. The food is priced comparable to The Outback, some things maybe a bit more, and choices range from Steaks and Chicken dishes to Salads and Pastas. Here is the cool part... When you order your food, the server brings you a cutting board with some bread for you to eat (like Outback) but then, they also give you a basket of old breads and bagels. This is not for you to eat! There are little trap doors next to your table if you sit near any of the windows that surround the building and you can drop pieces of bread down the hole and feed the fish below! Of course where there is random bread being tossed, there are seagulls! So you kinda have to throw fast or try to trick the birds so that the GIANT catfish below can get some bread! If you dine when it starts to get dark and later, the birds fly away and go home. And you are left with the fish. They literally come out of the water to get the bread! The quality of the food is excellent, and you get to entertain yourself! If you are in St. Augustine's Old Town, give it a try you will be glad you did!
My son William recently had surgery in Texas one of the first people we called when we returned home was Tim O'neill the manager of the St. Augustine applebees. He and the entire crew have cheered William on since the first day we moved to St. Augustine. Today I brought William and his nurse Kelly in for lunch, all the employees and alot of the customers were cheering William on as he walked with his walker unassisted for the first time and they were all excited about his new face he recieved with the surgery. Another customer, who wanted to remain anonymous even paid our bill because he was so happy for us. This is why we go to this applebees several times a week and we bring our friends , I often think we should send in a video about how at home everyone makes us feel, and the food is great too. We,ve been to other applebees but none in the area compare. Lisa Thompson
Wow what an amazing experience! Crab cakes looked great, the crab chowder was amazing but I have been dying for an excellent burger and haszards did NOT disappoint!! Perfection cooked, crispy bacon, melted cheddar, very flavorful top quality beef. It was juicy And amazing !!! I dipped the sweet corn nuggets in a flavorful horseradish sauce and perfectly fried homemade onion rings. I was lucky to steal a bite of my wife's pulled pork sandwich and the taste was a sweet smoky delight. It can be a challenge and a guessing game game at best when looking for a great meal and a good value in Saint Augustine and it's here at Haszards! Great owners on site very welcoming and polite. Waitress provided friendly and excellent customer service. Thank you for a great first visit.
