I was ecstatic when this place first opened, because of my love of freshly made New York style pizza. I have eaten here at least twice per week since it opened and I could not be happier with the place. My reason for writing this review is that I noticed a review written by MezzoAJ that I believe to be unjustifiably harsh and I wanted to write a quick counter to her statements. Here are the first couple of lines: "My husband and I stopped by this new local restaurant and ordered the night's special, which was lasagna. The restaurant is in shades of blue---rather odd, since this color has nothing to do with the colors of Italy. the tables were almost bare of any decoration and the decor was pretty non-existent." If the color blue in an Italian restaurant is confusing to you, then perhaps you should look up the definition of Azzurri (or Azzurro, as the "i" makes it plural). Having worked in the restaurant business previously, I know that it takes time to work out the kinks when starting a new restaurant; or any new business for that matter. In my experience, Pizzeria Azzurri has worked out these kinks since, and the food and service are both incredible. Thanks for the great food and service.

we went on a Saturday evening with the kids. We ordered a small deep dish pizza (45 min) and they had kids pizzas. The expectations (set by our server) were for the boys to get theirs sooner since they were small thin cheese pizzas.. NOT! After ordering, the server never came back, a table of 6 who ordered after us received their appetizers AND pizzas before us. Two seconds after we flagged down another server to go check on our food, our kids pizzas came.. 3 minutes after that, our deep dish finally came out! Clearly they forgot about us.. and no one came over to acknowledge, apologize, or even check on us. In fact, she looked embarrassed to come over to our table after the runner brought over our food. The "deep dish" we were told, was 3-4 inches thick- NOT! Although the flavor was very good, the EDGE of the pizza pie was 4" high but the ingredients were half that and was actually like a normal pan pizza. Think of it as a pan pizza with a tall crust around the edges. We're from Chicago, it was NOT Chicago style pizza.. I must say the atmosphere was nice. Great booths with a tv in each. Frosted glasses for beer... good sports bar restaurant. just stick to the thin crust, and expect average service, and you will love the place.
If you like authentic italian food and pizza, this is the place. The menu is extensive and the portions are huge. New York style pizza is the specialty and they do it well. I am a pizza lover and this is my favorite in the North Atlanta area. My wife likes that they offer healthy choices and the salads appeal most to her, although they are so large she can never finish one and takes it home for the next day. I like the atmosphere with all the sports on TV and the grand kids enjoy the game room. We like sitting outside at the tables when the weather is nice. I live too far away get a delivery or I would call in an order at least weekly.
